A Tribe Called Quest - A Video Anthology - 11-Oct-07 01:48 AM
This is an amazing video collection from "A Tribe Called Quest" featuring all their greatest tracks we have come to love so much over the past decades. The DVD menu isn't overloaded thus making it extremely pleasant to navigate. The video and audio quality is excellent! While watching "ATCQ" actually kick the "It" in the video "Can I Kick It?" you might notice that contrary to the DVD back cover info its a remix and not the original album version. Furthermore this European DVD release has the audio censored (simply cut off - no sample replacement) in all videos. This fact isn't as disappointing as it might seem at first. Focusing on positive lyrics "A Tribe Called Quest" never made a great use of vulgarity to spread their message anyway. I truly recommend this DVD to any hip-hop fan!
Digable Planets - Beyond The Spectrum The Creamy Spy Chronicles: The Videos - 08-Oct-07 11:44 AM
This DVD is a great way to reminisce about the "Digable Planets" and their innovative approach to hip-hop as it features some of their most popular videos from the 1993 album "Reachin' (A New Refutation Of Time And Space)" and from their 1994 "Blowout Comb" release.
Sadly there is a downside to this item and as the submitter of this release I feel it’s my responsibility to inform or better yet warn you about the poor audio and viewing quality of the videos contained within this DVD. Maybe the producers didn't strive to excel in the making of this product because it was just intended to be a promotional item for the upcoming best of CD/LP album and not to be made publicly available. Nevertheless it's disappointing to watch a DVD with its video source seemingly originating from various non-master ancient vhs tapes. As a result of this the picture is grainy, stale and it jitters. The audio is also taken from the same sources and therefore its quality (pops/noise) and its volume level is very low.
Still, this rather rare DVD is a must-have collectors item for true "Digable Planets" fans with moderate expectations.
