Andrew Weatherall - Hypercity - 16-Feb-04 11:37 PM
This compilation works very well as a whole, cohesive listening experience. The engrossing tracks are seamlessly woven into eachother by Weatherall, unlike the other Forcetracks compilations- which are also full of gems, but dont work as a complete unit like Hypercity does. With the exception of MSs sonically intense remix of Luomos Tessio, this is Forcetracks heard "without vocals", or at least only a hint of vocals. Neither a good or a bad thing, this is the album that would be one of the closest bridges between the more minimal Force Inc. division and the Forcetracks series of the Force/MillePlateaux family.

Yoko Mono - Higher Than Phunk - 16-Feb-04 10:54 PM
Play it at 33 or 45, I wish there were more 12"s like this! The track has a summery house-anthem sound to it, but is anything but common. Higher Than Phunk is multi-layered with excess, like a decadent chocolate torte- from the thumping bass to the exultant vocal cries. The track fits right in with the high grade of material released by Forcetracks. It was definitely a precursor to the jubilent, elegant yet pop-savy direction the record label has taken in recent years.

Yura Moorush - Next Round EP - 16-Feb-04 10:27 PM
I would describe this as just good old techno. With occasional vocals, The A Side initially reminded me slightly of Future Sound of Londons Papua New Guinea, but replace the early 90s "rave" nostalgia with a darker tone.

Luomo - Diskonize Me - 27-Jul-03 12:03 AM
More vocals than Luomos previous Vocalcity, gorgeous build-up toward the end of the track, one of the best "electronic" singles of the past few years.
