Reggie R* - Out Of Control - 24-Oct-08 03:42 AM
This is definatly an underrated classic.
Both mixes of "Out Of Control" are killer acid tunes using a Juno 106 and not a TB 303, dont let that put you off though, its a proper head warper and rocks just as good if not better, than any 303 line.
There is more acid madness in "Get Up", and "Reggie R" and "Strings" are great Chicago house tunes infused with the sounds of Detroit techno.
And to top it all off there are a couple of nice Hip Hop tunes stuck on the end of each side.

Definatly the best release on this small Chicago label.

Swayzak - Doobie / Floyd - 30-Jul-08 11:11 AM
Yet another cracker by Swayzak.
My pick of the two is probably Doobie, with its minimal rolling sounds gradually building and growing as each new element of the track is introduced.
Finally, a dirty analogue bass appears that keeps growing until it sounds like its about to rip through your speaker cones and send you down to your local audio dealer begging for the biggest set of subs they have.
Loud and bass up high is definatly the best way to appreciate this one.

II Exodus - Silence Too Exodus - 31-Mar-08 03:52 PM
This has to have a review!!
Quality, Dark 92 hardcore. Reminds me of dreadlocks, bonfires, fields and big soundsystems.
Has eastern and reggae influences in it and although being generally dark and raw it is still well produced.
I think this is one of my favourite 12's from this era. Every tune is a cracker.
Im surprised more people dont own this. For me it epitomizes the darker side of the hardcore scene at the time. This one was never getting in the charts.

"Where have you been?...Too Exodus" Killer!!!

Back From Detox - E.R.B. / Dove People - 23-Aug-07 12:07 PM
Another good release from Shut Up And Dance.
Not quite as full on as the Codeine tracks but definately one of their harder ones, and a bit of a warehouse stomper, especially the B side 'Dove People'
There seems to be a bit of drug promotion going on here.
E.R.B. has the sample "I just wanna say that a lot of you cats who dont think marijuana should be legalized...well your all f***ed"
...and 'Dove People'...well anyone who was around at the time will know what that probably refers to!

Not the best SUAD release by any means but definately a couple of quality tracks that stood out around the time.

Code 071 - A London Sumtin' - 23-Aug-07 03:13 AM
Im not sure if I would call this jungle, but its definatley one of those tunes that was around during hardcore's progression into jungle and also one of the last hardcore tunes before jungle really took over.
Reinforced were pumping out some quality tunes around this time and both sides of this are amonget those.
'Stand Together Yo Breakthrough' is a great Breakbeat track like only UK acts could delivery. There is a reversed break in the background and great synth stabs and arpeggios that really used to get the crowds jumping. The vocal version also has a 'Break The Limits' style rap over it. "We gotta stand as one and break on through"
'A London Sumtin' is a bit slower and deeper with a slow break and deep bass, but is an equally excellent track.
"A London sumtin rasta...seen"
