Stakka & K.Tee / Hochi & Stakka - Heavy Load EP Part 2 - 16-Mar-04 10:00 AM
The echo chamber remix completely blows the original out of the water. Karl K, Kaos & Jae Kennedy have been on fire recently and this record is no exception! They clearly put maximum effort into each one of their productions so that they deliver maximum dancefloor impact whilst being sure to maintain sonic integrity. I think a lot of producers could learn a lesson or two about remixing from these boys from Philadelphia. It's certainly not just cut, rearrange, paste, repeat.
Fex - Stricken Roots / Last Train - 08-Mar-04 11:14 AM
I listened to this in the record shop on 45rpm by mistake because it was in the DnB section. I think 'Last Train' sounds quite good at that speed and so i bought it for my DnB sets! Pitching it up that much makes the snares really tight and makes it sound like a Rascal & Klone tune. At 45rpm the tempo is about 175BPM so it's perfectly mixable with other DnB records.
Various - Paranoia EP - 30-Jan-04 12:34 PM
This is the best EP/LP i have bought yet. The variety is v broad for hardware, with Concord dawn's Raining blood standing out with it's indian inflence and guitar solo played by C.D. Pendulum & Keaton bring in the new swing beat style and the title track by Militia is a high energy roller, taking the same sample as Surreal & Parameter II's acid bath to punctuate this dark piece to maximum effect.
Dieselboy + Kaos* - Barrier Break / Submission - 28-Jan-04 07:44 AM
Really like it how the breakdown changes genre to breakbeat, followed by a crazy build up to the second drop. This is a brilliant record to play out as it is so different to english drum n bass.
