Various - Classic Trance Nation - 08-Mar-09 03:05 AM
This package seems a excellent opportunity to get classic tracks plus three mixes for the bargain price of £7.99

There are some niggles though:

Firstly we have versions of track that differ from what was used on the Trance Nations, namely:

Encore Une Fois (Original 12" Instead of Future Breeze Mix)

Your Face (Schizoid instead of In The Crowd)

Happiness Happening (Original instead of Lange Remix)

Dont Give Up ((Alex Gold & The Sound Xpress Mix Instead of The Original)

A couple of the tracks fade out, at a particularly annoying point with Brainbug, at least Slusnik Luna doesnt fade out during the main part of the track.

Theres also the inclusion of a few tracks that were never on any Trance Nation album:

Tiesto-The Tube, Hybrid-Finished Symphony, Paul Van Dyk-Forbidden Fruit and Underworld-Born Slippy

The three DJ mixes included are very loosely and badly mixed, like whoever mixed them was just having a laugh.

Cant argue for the money its cheap as chips for a good selection of trance classics (17p per track) although couldve been a bit better by including the correct versions of tracks and a few more that had appeared on the comps rather than including ones that didnt.

Tiësto* - UR / A Tear In The Open - 01-Oct-05 12:35 PM
Leama & Moors Mix of A Tear In The Open is bassline and riff wise very similair to Tilts The World Doesnt Know (Which Moor co-produced), topped with an etheral irish flute, gorgeous strings and drift away vocals.

Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony - 25-Sep-05 02:11 PM
Quite frankly stunning trance mixes of an already progressive house classic.

Edu Jimenez A.K.A. Deserves An Effort pulls off a vocal mix (Cained by Judge Jules) and dub (Cained By Armin van Burren) of floaty mellow trance which uses the main synth riff from the original for the build up and build down excellently while also including a wicked breakbeat breakdown midway thorugh before erupting with gorgeous melodies in the second half.

The Edu Jimenez vs. DJ Nano Remix is a more full on affair ala Tiesto and co style, but still does the track justice.

Narcotik - Blue / Twelve Miles - 29-Jun-05 05:06 AM
Taken me a while to finally get hold of this, Id forgotten how brilliant this is and why Paul Oakenfold opened the first date of his Essential Mix world tour in 99 in Sydney, Australia.

Its a mellow grove with old school style riffs panning around, a head nodding groove and in the 2nd half gentle acid squelching.

What a track.

Blue Amazon - Star Of David / The Blessing - 21-Jun-05 12:58 AM
Just got hold of a copy in perfect nick for £3.00!!, I got hold of a Sasha essential mix recently from 1995, and he started the 2nd half off with "Star Of David" which I loved from first listen.

They just dont make tracks like this anymore epic and pumping.

"The Blessing" is a quality track too tribally with acid gently bubbling through, a quality two tracker.
