Terry Maxx - Anything, Everything - 02-Nov-09 12:18 PM
First heard this on the "Cream Anthems 2001" compilation CD--(which in itself is one of the best ones of the series to date). Really good tune, uplifting soulful Disco House that was very typical of 1998-2002. Its a shame that the House DJs dont play this song out or more like this nowadays.
In my record collection at least, this still gets plenty of play when I feel like remembering better times. For my personal taste, "Andy & Lamboys Funked Up Mix" is more worn out than the "Joey Negro Club Mix" side ;)
Worth tracking down, if you are a fan of the disco house style.
Techno Animal - Techno Animal Versus Reality - 10-Feb-09 02:37 PM
"Deceleration" is seriously one of the most creepy, disturbing pieces of electronic music I have ever heard. Not a tune to play when youre all alone in your flat with the lights out. Techno Animal are certainly very talented producers (as well as the numerous side projects the band members are involved in) and this track in my opinion, stands out for me the most in their entire formidable discography.
The other songs on this disc are quite marvelous too, with Alec Empire, Ui, Porter Ricks, Tortoise & Spectre all giving their own interesting interpretations of TAs work as well as the original versions by TA themselves. A truly wonderful LP set, a MUST HAVE for the fans of darker experimental electronic dance music.
Na-Goyah - Fade Out - 06-Feb-09 01:26 PM
Great new release by one of my favorite artists, Na-Goyah.
His new anthem release, "Fade Out" (A1 track) samples a guitar riff from "Street Spirit" by Radiohead. While the lyrics have been copied from "Street Spirit" as well, they are not performed by Thom Yorke (lead singer of Radiohead). Instead, they have been redone specifically for this song/cover/remix.
The other two tracks on this release are quite solid, but "Fade Out" will no doubt be played by all the big mainstyle Hardcore jocks for years.
Various - Special Makina EP - 30-Jan-09 09:00 PM
The A1 song on this disc "The Model (Alarma Remix)," is a Makina cover of Kraftwerks "The Model." Usually I cringe at Kraftwerk covers but this is actually pretty cool, for what it is.
I have no doubt that a lot of Kraftwerk fans will disagree with me on this one, so Id recommend you track down a copy of this limited release and have a listen for yourself.
It also happens to be one of the coolest looking vinyl records Ive seen, so if you end up hating the record, it makes great wall paper :)
DJ Juanma Presents Dubplate (2) - Superstar - 13-Nov-08 02:50 PM
"Bibo" on the B1 side samples/copies the riff from the beginning of Coldplays "Speed of Sound."
I would say this particular song is borderline Happy Hardcore...Yet, it is one of those rare crossover tracks that would go over well with both Gabber/Happy Hardcore fans. But be careful, it may be a bit too "mellow" for the die-hard Gabbers out there ;)
Highly recommended! I must also add it is too bad that Central Rock releases are so difficult to find outside of Spain :(
