New Order - The Gatefold Substance - 28-Feb-08 12:33 AM
Each employee of Factory Records received a copy of Substance 1987 for their birthday during the fiscal year of its release. The "late" Tony Wilson thought "it would be a great gesture for all the hard working 'Factory' Workers". If you're a true fan, you should have this framed. Even if you have this on any other format, you should at least obtain this proud copy of New Order's first true compilation of the Eighties production.
LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem - 21-Oct-05 08:48 PM
This is a superb album! Each track has its own identity, message, and attitude. However, they sound like they're from different formats or a different artist. The last track is a nice flashback blow of a kiss to Brian Eno's "Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy). Brilliant!
Depeche Mode - Leave In Silence - 04-Nov-03 12:35 PM
The B-side has been recorded on two different speeds, 33 & 45 RPM. This allows you to play, "Further Excerpt From: My Secret Garden" and "Excerpt From: My Secret Garden". Although, the credits don't explain on the outer sleeve, but on the record's inner label the speed is 33|45 RPM.
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Electricity - 04-Nov-03 02:38 AM
The most authentic piece of synth-pop before reaching the 80's barrier of labels. This single cannot be touched with the groundbreaking sounds and compassion of early electronic music. Its no wonder Peter Saville gave his best artwork for this single other than what's mentioned in the well-done detailed notes from above mentioned.
New Order - Confusion - 04-Nov-03 02:31 AM
You can definitely hear the Arthur Baker/Jellybean Benitez team at work from The Funhouse club/New York. Listen to Freeeze I.O.U. and the two songs are basicly production cousins of each other. After completing the rough version of Confusion, Arthur Baker played it at the Funhouse Club on a reel to reel and break dancers thought it was an electro hip hop band. A true underground classic for the band now "vamped" for the techno heads who love The Blade version.
