Eric B. (2) - Eric B - 26-Oct-06 09:04 AM
A big disappointment of an album. Fans who were expecting any of the same magic witnessed on the Eric B & Rakim albums were left bemused as Eric B proves (with a little help from Freddie Foxx) that he just cannot "rip" a mic... Luckily for the consumer this was to be Eric B's only solo album and one which almost definitely confirmed the rumour that Large Professor had actually done all the beats Eric B took credit for on "Follow The Leader" and "Let The RHythm Hit 'Em".
Scientists Of Sound - Landmine Situation - 01-Oct-06 03:21 PM
The year was 1996, Scientist Of Sound were on Max and Dave's show on Kiss FM. That was the place they aired out what i consider one of the DOPEST beats in UK Hip-Hop history! They made a big deal about it not being on the album (so obviously heads would have to pick up the single). "Landmine Situation" is good... but "Scroll Of The Fake Assassins" is the real reason to pick this 12" up (and it includes the instrumental!).
BJ Digby - Breakthrough / The Torch / Alive - 13-Sep-06 03:31 AM
First heard BJ as Homeskill on the MOOD album. This is a great 12" and meant a lot to me at the time. The B-Side track "Alive" literally inspired me to get through some tough times. Positive rhymes over Usef's spiritually charged boom-bap (complete with a sort of faint monk's "OM" chant!) The A-Side joint is dope also, typical J-Rawls production (which means it's great quality), good rhymes from J-Sands also and Rawls on "Torch".
