Profile: Detroit Techno (Octave One, Rhythim Is Rhythim, Eddie Flashin Fowlkes, Cybersonik, UR, etc.), Bleeps (Rhythmatic, LFO, N-Joi, Tricky Disco etc.), Acid House (A Guy Called Gerald, Baby Ford, Adrenalin MOD), Industrial (Skinny Pupppy, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, etc.), Circa 1990 Manchester sound (Charlatans UK, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, The Farm, etc.) and mid to late 80's alternative (The Smiths, The Cure, The Cult, Gene Loves Jezebel, New Order, The Jesus & Mary Chain, etc.) 1985-1992 rules. Loving electronic music since the day I saw Computer World sitting on a shelf at the "Repeat The Beat" used record store in Dearborn, MI. I had to have it.

Random Noise Generation - Falling In Dub - 02-Feb-07 04:46 PM
'Falling In Dub' is a great track on its own merit, but the B- side steals the limelight on this 12". Both tracks are hard, sinister, and original. They are reminiscent of 'The Worlds' and 'The Art Of Stalking' by Suburban Knight. A classic 12" from Detroit's earlier era.
Skinny Puppy - Bites - 28-Jun-06 11:54 AM
A record that is a HUGE influence on music today, and one the biggest musical influences on me growing up, probably as much as "Computer World," but in a different way. Hard, evil electronic music? How could this be? With an sinister cover featuring skulls and corpses? And with vocals that sound like the devil? Were these guys serious? All I knew up to the point that I heard/saw this LP was electronic music like Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, and the like. I still listen to this record, as well as Remission, regularly. Unfortunately, those 2 releases are head and shoulders above anything else Skinny Puppy put out later, although there were some good singles.
Force Legato - System (V.1.0.) - System (V.2.0.) - 13-Jun-06 02:27 AM
A simple song- there's not really too much to it when you think about it, so why do I love it so much? The versions are quite similar- the main difference is that the beginning and the end of the songs are reversed. A perfect cross between techno and industrial, which you really don't find too often. I want more tunes like this one.
Adrenalin M.O.D. - Four Tunes E.P - 06-Jun-06 01:52 AM
'Ecstasy' and 'Track This' are absolute acid house masterpieces- from the heart of Detroit no less. Hard thumping tracks that serve as my personal standards for what acid house should be. Can't beat the psychedelic cover design either. You must own this!!
Gene Loves Jezebel - Discover / Glad To Be Alive - 16-May-06 01:05 AM
Discover is a pure classic. However, the "Glad To Be Alive" record included here is a masterful live performance with a great selection of songs that is much better than most live records out there. They perform with an intensity you can hear and feel, without mangling the songs.
