Profile: love rave music i turned on in 1991 and have not stopped listening to this music the hazy dazys o 1992 will stay with me for ever as i lived in bath i attended a few universe raves up on the hill(landsdown) in 2 orbit and mind body soul had a huge impact on me.back then no one cared about detroit techno we had created our own sound breakbeat hardcore all the slander directed at british hardcore during this golden era is unfounded and because we created a way of life revolving round rave music detroit looked on in awe at how massive breakbeat tekno had become bigger and better than there own scene.today i listen to derrick may & co.but my love for rave still stays close to me.i must say thou withage comes maturity and i have found myself playing catch up when it comes to intelligent techno cant believe i missed alot of this beautifull genre in the last few years i have traced key movers and producers of the genre along with goa trance ambient and planetdog & return to the source what opened my eyes to further electronic sounds was simon reynolds book "generation ecstasy" which gets my vote as the best most comprehensive book on rave culture the discography section of that book is extensive to say the least covering just about every genre of electronic music and listing the best compilations/albums of that genre.it has opened up new realms for me anyone who has an interest in rave should give it a read as this is where simon reynolds passion lies in hardcore techno as opposed to detroit caper!!!

Hallucinogen - Twisted - 25-Nov-09 04:10 PM
This is by far the cream of the crop when it comes to goa trance every producer of the genre must look at this release with a certain amount of "awe and respect!every track is crafted and shaped to perfection its honey to the ears a magical journey through the best goa the world has heard. The intro to LSD captures the ambivilence surrounding "hallucingenics".The track oscillates up and down and turns full bliss midway through, probably his master piece not forgetting "shamanix" to say these two tracks our his greatest is sacriledge to the other 6 mind blowing tracks on the album there all brilliant and unique even by todays standards if it was released tomorrow it would still be a classic and a great introduction to new people who dont no the genre this album was my entry point i cant help comparing most other goa by this album but the truth is you dont get much better than "hallucinogens-twisted".I would recommend to all lovers of electronic music.
Dave Clarke - Archive One - 16-Oct-09 01:22 PM
Apparently this guy is really arrogant but dont let that bother you that aside this is probably clarkes finest production "archive one" collects various singles on different eps most notably the legendary "red series".Whats ironic is dave clarke is anti drugs yet he has produced some of the most tripped out techno of all time apparently the red series was inspired by "tronik house" aka kevin saunderson who also released some brilliant hardcore techno tracks on his kms label, stand out tracks would be "wisdom to the wise" which is dave clarkes master piece hypnotic to the core a seminal track along with storm full on techno with some wicked riffs. All in all a brilliant techno album you can listen to detroit no not really belgium. There is some detroit style techno for the mellow side so it offers appeal enjoy this definitive release
Black Dog Productions - Bytes - 15-Oct-09 03:00 AM
One of the definitive albums/Compilations the electronic genre has produced along with "Autechres incunabula" these were the best albums in the artificial intelligence series by far the only track missing on bytes is the Bali track "norte route" which came out on planet e but that tune aside its still revolutionary just listen to the first song object orient which gets my vote as there finest production its common knowledge that black dog consider bytes to be there favourite work even better than the book of dogma which collates there early eps.Whats also notable is how fresh it still sounds today a true gem.Enjoy!
Autechre - Incunabula - 19-Mar-09 04:28 PM
This is a truly great electronic album. If not the best one ever created. I have alot of intelligent techno albums. But as good as some of them our they dont stand up to this master piece !!.I dont no the terminology for what they use to discribe such beautifull tracks, All i know is i have never heard any think like this.I dont think talking about the tracks does any justice. You can listen contenty all the way through as opposed to some patchy albums under the same genre. I am very picky when it comes to what i like and dont like. This album is faultless.I cannot even compare it with any think i have in my collection like global communication "76:14" And saw 85/92.This is my personal opinion which im sure many other people will share.Autechre went on to produce to more astounding albums. Amber and Tri-repetae++. Like the first reviewer i would give incunabula a slight advantage over the ones ive mentioned.Buy it and enjoy!!
Force Mass Motion - The Stone Of The 5th Sun - 11-Mar-09 05:59 PM
An amazing debut by force mass motion being released 1992 at the peak of hardcore techno-sound.It was hard to find most of these tracks on mix tapes, let alone a cd full of the original 12inches .The mode of construction on each of the eleven tracks is basically incongruous samples + looped breakbeats + oscillator riffs + piano-vamps and snipets of female vocals. What seperates his style from other similar tracks at the time is the under lying four to floor kick running underneath most of his tracks, making you want to get up and move. Stand out tracks would be panic and reach up but there is some really good underground tracks which our just as good as the ones ive mentioned.I think this is the best album he did,in a time when there was alot of trash going around if you like this check out his john + julie track Circles (visious mix).
