Profile: Hi, thanx for taking a look at my profile.

I'm a collector of early 80's new wave & cold wave, post-punk, minimal synth & electrowave, neue deutsche welle, gothic rock, oldschool ebm, industrial & weird electronic stuff, some darkwave, krautrock & pre-new wave and some punk classics... In other words: the sound of the cold war !

My alltime favourite bands are Joy Division, DAF and Depeche Mode.

Sorry, nothing from my collection is for sale.
Unless... you want to trade it for something I'm looking for.

Vono - Dinner Für 2 - 30-Jun-09 02:22 AM
This is definitely one of my favourite german releases. However: some people dislike it, and I can easily see why. Yes, the music on this record is purely electronic and extremely minimal. But beware: it’s not minimal in a poppy "mini-mini-jupe" or “fred vom jupiter” way... Don’t expect pretty synthi-pop with bouncy rhythms, catchy melodies or cute casio sounds.
Vono’s style is different. To say the least. It’s unique.
When describing their sound, “cold” and “disconnected” are the keywords that spring up first. Vono mostly use synths in a sparse, repetitive and a-melodic way – Often reminding of conrad schnitzler’s work on the ‘con 3’ Lp. The overall sound and lack of defined melodies create a really weird atmosphere. The music is stripped down to the bare essentials; The empty spaces are almost as important as the synth-sounds themselves. On top of that, the lyrics are spoken in some kind of german you would rather expect to hear in an s/m dungeon, complete with rolling “rrr” and a strange accent.
Like F. Schneider already stated (check out his excellent book on neue deutsche welle and german punk), the whole album has a clear “der räuber und der prinz” feel to it.
I love it, and I think it’s one of the best releases in the early 80’s ‘minimal synth’ subgenre.
Listening tips: “im schein des neon” and “lover werner”.

Dive - Live Action - 26-Feb-09 06:22 AM
This is definitely one of the best electro-industrial releases ever made. Opening tracks "Theres no hope" and "Dead or alive" alone are already worth the purchase of this CD, as they sound MUCH more powerful and intense in a live setting.
Sure, the music is rough, primitive and minimal, but in my humble opinion thats exactly where the magic lies! Add some twisted lyrics on top of Dives merciless bulldozer-sound and there you have it: the perfect soundtrack to the madness of mankind...
