Profile: A long time electronic music fan, for many years I followed the Scottish techno and hardcore scenes avidly lapping up all they could throw at me. Steppin' Out with the late great Tom Wilson was the soundtrack to much of my early electronic music life, and lead directly to the purchase of my first proper record – the seminal Ultra-Sonic – Obsession CD single (which I stupidly later sold when strapped for cash).
Over the years my tastes have changed somewhat, and although I have a soft spot for the Old Skool electronic stuff I have ventured into many genre - my collection currently including various forms of electronic, rock, hip-hop, classical and more. However my current genre of choice would have to be psy-trance. Listening to the genius of Simon Posford in his various guises (particularly Hallucinogen and Shpongle) reminds me that not all music is dead, free from innovation and driven purely by commercial ends.
If I could recommend one track to anyone to listen to – it’d be Hallucinogen – Alpha Centauri / LSD
