Joshua (2) - Phase Extreme - 28-Jul-06 08:26 AM
One of many criminally underappreciated releases on Laurent Ho's labels. B2 is the most typically Joshua-sounding track, albeit one of his better efforts. B1 is a bit of a psychedelic frenzy laden with various mechanical sounds and a kickdrum which wanders out of sync quite a lot to great effect. A1 is by far the best thing Joshua has done or likely ever will do. It consists mainly of a kickdrum drowned in massive bursts of white noise, with various bits of percussion and the occasional atmospheric loop. The white noise constantly morphs and wraps around the surrounding sounds in a rather brilliant way. Quite interesting too how close the track is to the sound adopted by quite a lot of dutch gabber today, after the scene's faux-industrial revolution.

Epiteth Rec. - 26-Dec-05 07:49 AM
Probably THE definitive industrial hardcore label. Just about every release(until about PTH 23 which is about when i think Laurent Hô was no longer in control) was not only an extremely high standard but they all sound uniquely 'Épitèth'. It's quite often where you'll find an artist's best work, no doubt due to Laurent Hô's exceptional skill in choosing tracks.

From PTH 23/24 the label takes a dramatic and unfortunate shift towards 'mainstream' hardcore a la Audiogenic.

Fischkopf Hamburg - 26-Dec-05 07:49 AM
Excellent label this. Even though quite a few records weren't pressed very well, it's been home to some incredible records, notably early releases by the Michelson sisters(No Name/Auto Psy), etc.

Apparently the label was starting up again but there's been no news since that was announced at least 18 months ago. Would have been interesting to see what sort of stuff they would release nowadays. Ah well.
