Pearl Jam - July 2 03 - #62 Mansfield - North America 2003 - 27-Sep-09 01:30 AM
This is the first of the famous Mansfield 2003 tri-gig marathon, throughout which PJ was to play over a hundred songs with no repetition whatsoever. Eventually they managed to play 104 songs with only one repetition, which is still quite an achievement. The setlist of the first show speaks for itself - if they put out both "Oceans" and "Deep" during one evening, you ought to know this will be legendary; and this happens barely during the first five songs!
Nonetheless, although spectacular by the list of content, the performance itself doesnt keep up. The unusual composition of the set doesnt always click together well, and simply tends to bore the listener, which also explain why the band brings out such a crossover only on special occasions.
Rest assured, the attendees of the show(s) must have had a time of their lives (Im sure I wouldve).

Pearl Jam - 25 5 00 - Palau Sant Jordi - Barcelona, Spain - 05-Oct-08 03:55 AM
There is something extremly positive about the two Spanish PJ events of 2000 Tour. Even though Barcelona is far from being a highlight of the tour, or even its clearly inferior European leg, it still holds a special mark all together. Call it a bond, call it a fascination or passion, but there is something powerful hidden in between words here, as if the band communicates with listeners on two or more levels. The setlist is perfectly average, and the performance doesnt stand out even for a brief moment. Yet, as said before, the overall impression makes one cling to the record and come back to it, for some strange reason.

Pearl Jam - 23 5 00 - Estádio Do Restelo - Lisbon, Portugal - 05-Oct-08 02:53 AM
A great show to start a great tour. Portugal here is many things in one: it is a great crash test of songs to be played extensively at subsequent events, it is very much a for the people type of show, very humane & outright positive. The audience in Lisboa enjoy themselves a great deal, always helpfully singing the lines when Vedder has trouble remembering his own lyrics. The encouraging football game-like chanting also supports lifting the show from a nice quiet start to a thunderstrike of good old grunge rock classics. The setlist is a perfect circle - no surprises & no gaps, which means its all one could expect from a PJ show at that time. The special moment of the show comes with the ad hoc Last Kiss, probably not included in the original set, which Vedder performs half-solo because of Camerons drumkit malfunction. In general, a positive listening experience.

Pearl Jam - Live At The Garden - 07-Mar-08 03:43 PM
The two songs performed with Ben Harper, especially the mighty Indifference, are worth enough to see this show. Otherwise youre getting one of the great highlights of the 2003 tour, with the band literally surrounded with enthusiasm and satisfaction of the overpacked Madison Square. The one who put the setlist together must have known this was going on camera, but somehow managed to glue an amazing thing out of the regular-special stuff that followed Love Boat Captain. The gig clicks in right from the start, without major showing off from the bands one and only, but rather with a highly intensive chemistry among everybody involved, from third party viewers to lead guitarist (who looks fatty). And even with the major finale that lasts for about five songs, Pearl Jam did not show all their tricks, saving something for the night after. Great show, which demonstrates the bands special forces.

King Crimson - Live In Philadelphia, PA, July 30, 1982 - 28-Feb-08 05:27 AM
This is about how amazingly weird King Crimson can sound even if they try mixing such simple compositions as the lovely Heartbeat with the progressive estacades of Red or Discipline. The 80s incarnation of KC has already proven powerful enough to handle the whole decade of silence on Absent Lovers; here in Phily 82 we get an even modest setlist, best of its time, performed in an excellent manner of art-rocky entertainers in colorful suits, pocketful of great ideas. All the pieces remain flawless (and consistent), although I must say I heard better (and worse) renderings of Indiscipline. Matte Kudasai still proves a gem of its time, Elephant Talk is still irritating, and the Sheltering Sky is still a mystery to me. Shame Frame By Frame did not open the show, nevertheless its a great show that really makes the 80s KC a convincing and intriguing piece of music of their own, as well as in the KC history.
