After meeting Clarence Carter in the late 60s, Candi Staton recorded three albums in the famous Muscle Shoals Studios for Rick Hall's FAME label. After that she went on to record disco and gospel music, and fell into oblivion.
Now she's back with this compilation CD that consists of material of those first three albums. Candi's voice is so full of emotion and the gritty, heartfelt songs touch on all the emotions of personal relations: love, pain, infidelity, betrayal and co-dependence.
This is true soul music, music from the heart that really gets to you.
