Reviews & Discussion:

Bent - Ariels Feb 07, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
As the previous reviewer stated, Bent has always a penchant for reworking or revitalizing obscure tracks and, thus, delivering a polished retro feel to their productions.
In ARIELS, they apparently took a turn in the road in order to venture a change in the scenery.
All I can say is: the landscape they've captured and pictured in this new album is simply mesmerizing.
Deeply emotional, ARIELS could be unfairly called "cheesy" after a first listen. However, if you take the time to really absorb it, you'll realize the album is melancholic without being depressive, and it's sad without being sappy.
And AS YOU FALL is one of the most heartbreaking song I have ever, ever heard.
Dido - No Angel - The Remixes Dec 13, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This is a quite good remix compilation. I just wish it had more varied tracks and remixers. All but MJ Cole's remix of Hunter are really top-notch.
The surprise here is the brazilian producer Memê Mansur who contributes with a cute house take on "My Lover's Gone".
The live performances, on the other hand, are rather lukewarm and uninteresting.
Get it on behalf of the Deep Dish's remix of Thankyou. It's wonderful!!
ATB - The DJ'2 - In The Mix Sep 13, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
ATB presents us a quite strong offering, a strong DJ mix both in the tracklist and in the mixing.
As a matter of fact, the mixing could sound rushed at first. But when listen closely to it for the second time, you see the transitions are a natural consequence of the songs order.
One song seems to literally flow into the following as inevitably as a stream flows into a river.
It may shock some, and it certainly will, but I found it quite refreshing.
Two thumbs up to Mr Tanneberger!
Ferry Corsten - Infinite Euphoria Aug 29, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)

Infinite Euphoria is definitely a masterpiece.
It shows it takes a lot more than just great tracks to make a great mix. The tracklist, the tracks order and the mixing are flawless.
Ferry selects "old" and "new" tracks along with some classical and ambient pieces to build a mesmerizing 2CD set.

For me, the highlights are tracks 2-3 in CD1, which sound like they're one beautiful song (it might be "Angels Write The Rules"), and Barber's Adagio For Strings, which despite its overuse acquires a new dimension when blended with Seattle Calling.

Every electronic music enthusiast should at least indulge himself a full listen of Infinite Euphoria
Tiësto* - In Search Of Sunrise 4: Latin America Aug 28, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
It's rather a shame that ISOS 4 is only worth 3 stars.
The tracklist is quite good and there some really great tracks here.
Unfortunately, the tracks order is troublesome, specially for CD2. Some songs in this CD just don't sit well together and the general feel of the album is irregular, going up and down throughout the disc instead of a continuous build-up.

CD1 is far better than CD2 but it doesn't mean it's flawless. The edit of "Like A Waterfall" isn't a good start, as pointed before, and Tiesto's own remix of "The Force of Gravity" should've been left out in favor of more appropriate songs.

The transitions are badly done too, which is unexpected for a skillful DJ such as Tiesto. The mixing of "The Loves We Lost" into "Perfect Silence" is definitely awkward and sounds like the tracks were just juxtaposed... Maybe he wasn't in a good day.

CD1 alone deserves a 3 or a 3,5-star rating. CD2 is simply disastrous and, hence, should rest in the case.
