Atmos / Echö-Lab* - Overlap - 02-Jun-06 04:02 PM
An interesting release from Atmos. The tunes range in style here, from clubby psychedelic to chill/minimal, to tribal to even an ambient tune. There are some older songs mixed with new releases, the inclusion of "Klein Aber Doctor" makes this CD worth it alone. A true classic in progressive trance. I would say about half of the tracks are good or better, with the remainder of them being a bit of a snooze fest. As mentioned earlier, Klein Aber Doctor is a 5/5 single tune and if you dont already have it, its here in its entirety (not mixed). 3/5
Dave Seaman - Back To Mine - 01-Jun-06 03:47 AM
The second release in the fabulous "Back to Mine" series. Each artist gets to present you with their favorite songs, as they would play them for you at an after hours party.
Dave Seamans take on this is pure class. He presents us with a smooth flowing, and chilly journey through some great tracks. Favorites are the Craig Armstrong track, Depeche Mode, and the Sneaker Pimps.
The journey ends with one of, if not the most beautiful songs ever, Lambs "Gorecki". A heart felt ending to a wonderful disc.
Various - Stark Raving Mad - 31-May-06 10:14 PM
This 2 disc set has a lot of nice tunes from John Digweed and Nick Muir, but they are tarnished by the addition of the movie quotes. The quotes from the film are sprinkled throughout each song at what seems like random intervals.
If you are looking at this CD for full versions of great songs by Luke Fair, Pole Folder, etc...be warned that they may have the movie samples mixed in as well. If not for this, I would have highly recommended it.
Benza - Retrofuturism - 31-May-06 06:46 AM
Great release from Benza. He certainly isnt getting enough notice for this album. Highlights of this release include "The Ascension of Smeagol", "Duck and Cover" and "Depth Perception". "Depth Perception" being the top tune of the release, in my opinion. Quality tune. The album makes good use of samples, which do not detract from the songs. No vocals, just the way we like it.
Voice Of Cod - We Are Free - 30-May-06 11:13 PM
The best of the full-on genre! VoC give it full power and plenty of humor as well. All songs are high BPM and full of energy. There are so many layers to this album, that I keep hearing something new each time I listen to it. "Just a Ride" is a top notch floor burner.
