Suicide - Cheree - 16-Apr-04 03:43 PM
Cheree proves that Suicide indeed has Pop song qualities. Cheree is a love song. One of the most chilling ive ever heard. Haunting, freezing, it is crude and gentle, unforgivingly lost, melancholic and hysteric. I wished it was remixed to 3 hours.
Jason Forrest - The Unrelenting Songs Of The 1979 Post Disco Crash - 15-Apr-04 05:21 AM
Extreme listening experience of cut-up Prog-, Glamrock and Disco samples with an astonishing, unrelenting exploitation of the sampled sources. bootlegging as the maximum principle. It can only be fully appreciated when seeing Donna Summer/Jason Forrest live: re-enacting his own sound with illustrative gesturing and exhaustive dancing from behind his laptop:"Drum solo!"
www.jz-arkh.co.uk - ddrhodes / js_orch - 25-Mar-04 04:11 AM
If your are only looking for the track ddrhodes.wav, it can also be found on the Pop Ambient 2002 KOMPAKT compilation which might be easier to find. But since collecting vinyl is also a synaesthetic experience i suggest, try to get this one. In its minimalism of grey vinyl with black center it becomes a small magic object entirely devoted to the warm unfolding of its transcendent sound, suddenly becoming the center of the room itself. It is this 7" and maybe some Alva Noto releases that give the circular motion of the record player a completely new meaning beyond being mechanical support.
Corrado Izzo - Offene Weiten - 10-Sep-03 05:43 AM
This is another release in Corrado Izzos atmospheric Gadgets style. It is drawing you into its own space, its open spaces. Though the tracks elements keep their clear technoid character, they unfold an almost impressionistic landscape. In "Offene Weiten", a soft warm bass spreads like a carpet above which the clattering beat is pushing straight forward. The beats miniature breaks keep up the pace. The intro "Korridor" is actually modulated by real space using the delaying and reverberation of the room itself. I give it a 5/5 just for the thrilling A-side with "Korridor" and "Offene Weiten". These tracks are two stages of accessing space, an abstract take-off yielding in a tech-house exploration across the sea.
James Din A4 - Defecting Grey - 27-Aug-03 04:20 PM
Like sketches from the park, the club, the kitchen table, or some train station those eleven tracks are complex minimal electronica. Laid-back minimal house and deep, rocking techno-beats meet clicks & cuts, trade-fair organ and babys brabbling, running ahead of itself, miles behind and catching up again. Defecting grey, yet any other color on its scale. Take it to the club, to the park, in your car, at home- it wont stop rocking you. One of my favourites!
