Profile: I like: (minimal) house, -tech house and -techno, drum & bass, breakbeat, jazz (not 'nu-jazz' or whatever it's called though), some classical, some flamenco, a bit of ska and some old school hip hop (like A Tribe Called Quest). Oh yes, and some dub, dubsteb and variations on this.
I dislike: Trance (with the exception of some great classics, such as Hale Bopp, Schöneberg and The Age of Love), anything with 'hard-' next to it; the same goes for 'jump-'. Also, R&B, 'latin' (referring to reggaeton and the likes) and rap. Really, almost everything that I did not name in my 'likes' section...

Craig Richards - Fabric 15: Tyrant - 15-Feb-07 07:22 AM
It took me quite a while to appreciate these mixes, but theyre definitely good. What I do not understand is why they are published under the Tyrant moniker, even though Lee Burridge does not take part in the mixing, as he did for the radio mix of Fabric 15. His lacking presence results in a missing grooviness, which made the Tyrant 1 & 2 cd series so cool.
Melon (4) - Four Seasons Part 01 - 24-Jan-07 02:50 PM
A very impressive first release. Heard Melon play Spring about a year ago and was on the lookout ever since. Both Spring and Summer are beautifully worked out soundscapes, with very much understated beats, that are excellent to chill out to. By providing the remixes alongside them, the album has been made into proper Detroitesque dancefloor material. Highly recommended!
Alex Smoke - Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi. _03 - 05-Jan-07 06:27 AM
I think its great to see that not every DJ feels the need to only mix the latest releases and Alex Smoke shows us here that the classics should be all but forgotten.
HOWEVER, I find that the mix completely lacks structure and flow, therewith wasting the chilled atmosphere that dubby tracks such as the See Mi Version might create, or the more groovy potential contained in tracks such as 25 Bitches and Pingu.
Monoroom - Memory Inc. Part II - 06-Dec-06 04:41 AM
Where the original is an ok, although not at all original minimal electrohouse track (as are released by the dozens a day), Gui Boratto seems to be content with creating a kind of bootleg of Özgür Cans - With Shades of Grey in which he splices the guitar refrain of the original track. (I cant put my finger on where the refrain is from, but it sounds like Depeche Mode).
Villalobos* - Fizheuer Zieheuer - 30-Nov-06 10:21 PM
Although I think that as a dj, Ricardo is cool as hell, I keep wondering what he tries to do in his productions. Instead of keeping them to a usable and listenable length, every new release appears to get longer and more tedious. This one must be the worst yet! The beats and especially the bass show some cool development (in Pt.2), but what is this horrid trumpet tune all about? Undoubtedly he will make it sound good in his own sets, but I sure hope that other djs will keep their hands of this tune...
