Twilo People - Without You - 08-Jun-09 04:58 PM
Classic. Personally, and without any doubt, this is my favourite house track of all times.
Both main mix and vocal mix are stunning. No worries, the vocal suits the track perfectly along with the instrumental elements making it a true masterpiece itself by sequencing different synth riffs into one. Make no mistake; even the beats are out of the ordinary.
This tune was not made to make money, this is pure emotion. Twilo People can be proud of themselves as these gentlemen understand house music like no other.

Jamiroquai - Dynamite - 17-Feb-09 01:26 PM
Being around for so many years, this album proves music has no limits for Jay Kay and his band.
An energenic and above all suprising album - especially if you look at their previous works.

In my opinion it's always a pleasure to be flabbergasted while going through a full artist album - having numerous expectations since they are active in the scene for such a long period already.
In this case it most certainly has to be ''Black Devil Car'' bringing those feelings to mind. A 'Rock' orientated track which is taking the entire CD to a max late in the album in a way Jamiroquai didn't get their present status with. Stubborn!
This however is compensated by the powerful and yet beautiful ''Tallulah'' a few tracks earlier, moving the record to the opposite direction because of its tempo and laid down vibe.

Obviously, let us not forget the classics: ''Seven Days In Sunny June'' as well as ''(Don't) Give Hate A Chance''. But let's face it; even without these tunes, the album would still be solid.

The only song on this album I fail to understand is ''World That He Wants'', mostly by its odd and irresponsible panning. However, -as said earlier- suprises I adore! I always fancy seeing musicians taking their material to a different level by taking risks more or less. Even though it did not work for me on this particular track, I envy their guts!

Now, Jamiroquai's ''Dynamite'' has been a fortunate purchase. A massive album deserving a 5/5 rating because of its spontaneity.

Kraak & Smaak - Boogie Angst - 26-Jan-08 12:37 PM
Something tells me we should all bow for Oscar De Jong regarding not only this album (which is simply fantastic and very unique). This is their ´face´ as it stands for all the music they have been doing to date.

Whenever they remix something and make it completely downtempo (such as Sarah Bettens' 'Come Over Here') they maintain to achieve the same stunning effect.

They have been launching themselves by sending a demo to Jalapeno and look where it got them. It was this particular record label that forced this trio to name themselves 'Kraak & Smaak' and it seems they already knew where this was going.

Again, my respect regarding the whole K project mainly goes out to Oscar De Jong.

5/5

Pure Substance Records - 06-Oct-07 03:51 PM
Pure Substance has had the potential of becoming one of the most respected Progressive House labels on the planet.
They've never gotten that far in my opinion, simply by keeping quiet and I feel the releases are going downwards regarding quality. It seems demos/track submissions are more often accepted to keep the schedule going. What a shame... All it needed was a little more care.
Time is running out! Labels are drowning. It appears Pure Substance Records might be one of them.

Bumcello - Dalila (Martin Solveig Remix) - 13-Aug-07 07:15 PM
This track could easily be my favourite of the year.
Now, since I'm actually reviewing it, I could name all the elements, and how catchy they are, how brilliant the record is etc... but that I wont.
I'm just really glad Martin decided to release this track, even though it's not easy to get yourself a copy these days.
