Another Electronic Musician - Patience - 14-Oct-08 01:42 AM
AEMs Patience is a journey through fluid ambient soundscapes filled with drips, glitches, and textures. Disjointed little noises build up, shaped by slow and graceful bass sweeps and warm chords, to form subtle yet sublime melodies. The amount of sonic detail is incredible: every listen to the album reveals reveals previously unnoticed little arrangements and layers. In places the sound of Patience crosses the fine line between extreme crafted complexity and complete entropy, but that makes finding the subtle rhythm again all the more enjoyable. Transitions between tracks are seamless, and listening from start to finish in the intended order is definitely the best way to experience Patience.

Beautifully composed, recorded, and mastered, this album is equally great for contemplative headphone listens and for filling the room with sound from a home theater system. Even if you dont care for electronic music in general, give Patience a try. It is a unique experience.

Various - Autechre vs. Music - 11-Dec-06 12:42 AM
I purchased this album by mistake, thinking that this was an authentic Autechre release; I regret it now. The entire compilation consists of poorly done mixes of Autechres tracks with other artists works. The combinations are rarely musical, often two great songs into one awkward track. Aside from being musically lame this album is very poorly mastered, with horrible clipping and compression audible in every track.

ISAN - Salamander - 24-Mar-06 03:53 AM
"Peg" from Salamander was the first ISAN track I have ever heared - and I bought all their records I could find since then. Salamander features a variety of ISAN styles - from mellow and ambient "Twentyfive Thirtyone", to dark and grunting "Snot", to funky and relaxed "Happy Pet in a Car". Salamander is a good introduction to ISAN: it samples many varied styles that were developed in groups five other albums. This still remains my favourite ISAN record to date.

Gescom - ISS:SA - 17-Oct-05 01:04 AM
Its not exactly fair to compare Draft 7.30 and ISS:SA. The latter has a much more playful, I would even say funky sound - much like "Laughing Quarter" on Autechres Envane or "Key Nell 3" by Gescom.

The entire album sounds like something that could become a dancefloor hit... if Gescom didnt cut it in tiny fragments, stretched, tilted, squeezed, turned upside-down and inside-out, and finally put it back together. The tracks are complex but very entertaining!

Scientist - Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires - 27-Sep-05 03:14 AM
You can find some of the most original and interesting reggae pieces here, peppered with plenty of spacey effects and creepy voices. Scientist is really a master when it comes to combining traditional instruments and electronic crazyness.

Rockstar Interactive used many tracks from this CD to create the KJAH radio in Grand Theft Auto 3 - this CD is a must if you liked those tunes in the game.

The only boring track on this cd is #10, the last one, the rest are very enjoyable and cleverly composed.
