Aurra - Are You Single Aug 08, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Question I ask any girl before I start rappin' to her, this is Aurra's best song ever. Released in April 1981, it's sweet yet powerful with a cool melody because it talks about women having trouble in modern day relationships, not to mention that 50% divorce rate in America since the late 1960's. The one line in the song that best sums it up is when Curt Jones says to Starleana Young, "The reason for your hesitation is because men don't live up to your expectations."
Melba Moore - What A Woman Needs Aug 08, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Classic early 80's R&B album released in August 1981 and produced by none other than Gene McFadden & John Whitehead. I've always believed this is Melba's best album ever. It mixes adult contemporary and after hours champagne music with soul and disco. Some of the songs like Your Sweet Lovin' sound like they were recorded in the 1930's with those beautiful violins.
Jay Dixon Jun 24, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Chalk this guy up as one of the greatest DJ's of all-time. For those of you familiar with the New England and the tri-state areas, there is a radio station in New York City called 98.7 KISS WRKS-FM. It's been on for ages and plays the best soul music in the world, even better then WBLS. During late 1998 and early 1999, Dixon had a show on late Saturday nights from midnight to 2 a.m. called Kiss Club Classics were he would play songs like Don't Make Me Fall In Love from Basic Black, Coming On Strong from Desire, Lil' Louis & The World I Called U and Let Me Love You from Rasoul Featuring Shanan. He's also the same guy behind the studio project Love Club which released the greatest disco song in history called Hot Summer Nights in 1983. Just listen to the closing dialouge and you'll see what I mean.
