V/Vm - The Lady In Red / All Night Long
May 30, 2004
This is truly superb. A friend described it best - it just like when you're dancing with a girl, smashed out of your head at the end of a cheesy night out... the music sounds strangly jarred.... it's actually quite beautiful. Definitely one to check out. (And a real obscure, original record people will be very surprised and pleased to hear)

Third Shock were amazing! A duo from Ireland they were suppossed to be the driving forces in relaunching the GPR label, however the label went under and Thrid Shock disappeared. I have a cassette with 4 or 5 unreleased tracks on it that I would love to share with everyone (it never got released), including tracks "Kindly Dad" and "American Pie". I used to know the founder and got given the cassette as a "look what GPR's got!" gift. It is such a shame that they never got released.

This was the last ever release on incredible label General Production Recordings. Wayne Archibald, the founder of the label, intended the album to relaunch the label after a very bitter legal dispute with a business partner that, in the end, brought the label down.
Sadly, this compilation includes the only released music that I know of by Third Shock - a really fantastic, innovative duo from Ireland. Perhaps they went on to record under another name elsewhere. If any one knows, please let me know. It also has music from RadioActive Lamb, who, in tandem with Third Shock were intended to launch the label to new heights. Trivia fans, General Production Recordings isn't some unimaginative name like "Acme Records", it was named after the founder who recorded under the name of Housemaster General, hence "General Production" Recordings. Wayne, if you're reading, you still owe me £200 for that printer ;-) | ||||
