This album is just incredible. It's moody electric and soft all the way. very nice and very intense.

Theo parrish seems to be the most inspired and prolific deep house producer. I must confess that his music really puts house to a new level.
The thing is that beside the sound is quite minimalistic and pure, the sound keep groovin thanks to a subtle mix of repetitivness in the chords and regular changes in the beat. Theo's sounds have a great texture, the relentless chords, nice and profound, are hypnotizing. The breaks are puting time foward and makes you move a different way on a slowed rythm. With this kind of music, nobody wants the night to stop.
Blake Baxter - Poetry And Rhythm Session One
Aug 27, 2008
Surprisingly, this is the the first review on this great release.
The title is not a lie. Blake is really the only one to be able to get lyrical on pumpin basses. Both trax are groovy but quite opposite on the sense and the mood. One is clearly sensual, nearly sexual, the other one, is a typical up lifting trax under the direct influence of gospels. In brief, one says get down, the other says get up. Both messages are good to hear to my opinion, it depends on the moment. Both trax are very musical and percussive, the bass is loud, omnipresent and the tempo is low. This is just perfect after chill out stuff if you want to get to serious things.
Kerri Chandler - The Thing For Linda EP
Aug 27, 2008
This is one of my favourite release from Kerri Chandler this EP is really complete, just as I like it.
There is one filtered house trax which is very dubby and sounds better than many of the french touch productions. You have also a drum track which is particularly well constructed with a fat bass line keepin the groove on. There is also a melodic composition : soul up lifting music. And my favourite is a very special trax, not very easy to mix but so nice to hear and swingin' like hell. The bass are as deep as they may be, there is a continuous sample of jazz cymbals which create the atmosphere and the melodic aspects are fulfilled by a guitar played in the gipsy style. Simply charming and yet so efficient. For those who'd like to know a bit about Kerri, they won't be deceived.
Blake Baxter - Energizer
Aug 20, 2008
Blake baxter is the master of pumpin basses and the trax energiser prove it by itself.
This is effectively a energizing trax, it's far from being happy house though. On the contrary, it's a serious groove with a hip hop influence which is a caracteristic of many Blake's trax's moods. This is bouncing underground sound straight from detroit. It is infectious and if the track is rightly put in the mix, the people mostly get nervous asking for more.
Plastikman - Nostalgik.2

These are geometric and mathematic tracks.
The construction and the sound of these tracks may appear strange, unusual, but it's quite mecanical though. It's very experimental and creative concernig the composition of the track but it is also a very effective tool for a dj set, it just need to be adequatly used. I think these trax are an explicit example of what abstract techno is. This genre being to my mind an improvement of richie Hawtin in the field of electronic music. Recommanded for those who like tracks with only dry drums such as spastik, also from plastikman.
Akufen - Québec Nightclub
Aug 20, 2008
This is quite a unique release, one of the best german minimal release post 2000 to my opinion.
The sound is really in the german minimal style but it's not cold neither annoying as some german releases may appear. On the contrary, it's totally bouncing, full of sound precily cut and wonderfully arranged. We wonder how Akufen made it to put so much on these tracks and yet to keep it groovy and impressive the way it is.
Tech Trax Inc - Tech Trax Inc
Jul 29, 2008
Tech trax inc is an amazing deep house trax.
It makes me think about some of blake baxter's trax. just the essential but deep and musical though. The bass line is greatly efficient, the voice give a specific mood, a kind of serious groove. There is then a musical ouverture which makes this trax quite complete. The music sounds nearly like eighties but remains actual thanx to the important use of the bass. this trax like some other is a good example of the transition between eighty and ninety sound. | ||||
