Reviews & Discussion:
I surprised that no one wrote a review for this amazing mix compilation. Desyn's Bedrock mix it's a journey throught different genres of house. But the most important thing is how Desyn makes them sound of it's own. Personal highlighs the Kinkyfunk track ''monodrama'' and one of the best techno tracks in the shape of Lady B's ''cruising around motor city''. I must admit that the firt time i heard it i did not realise the potential of this cd,but after the second listen i adore it. A timeless piece of forward thinking house! 5/5

This was one of the secret weapons that Sasha & John Digweed used to play during the peak hours at their Twilo residency back in the day.
Side A ''Subversal'' is a monster of a track. From the moment the needle touches the vinyl there is no escape from its groove.Pumping rolling bassline, a funky trippy melody that never explodes, in fact you have a sense that you were diving under the water! Side B ''Velvet Vision'' follows in the same vein! Proper dutch trance never sounded better.

This was a fine release from the Yoshitoshi stable back in '97.
For me it's the tune that started Yoshi's to step back from their usual deep house tastes and looked in dark territories, something that the label embraced later. A1 intro is a smooth tale and is perfect for opening a set with it. A2 & B2 are bombs made of clean wax. Thumping basslines and a feel of aqua deepness run through the grooves. A great addition to any self respected deep techhead and of course a must have for Yoshitoshi collectors. Listen loud with the bass full and you will understand why....

What can i say about this tune! Back in the day Hooj was responsible for releasing such great tracks and i think that this one is easily one of their finest.Hooj's honcho Red Jerry takes all the credits for his work Powerfull bassline with percussive stabs, a memorable vocal plus a killer melody near the end!
Still remember Sasha dropping this at 3am at Cream in Liverpool and getting hysterical respond from the crowd. the other mix from sunship is also beautiful but can't beat the power of Red Jerry's mix. Highly recommended!

A prime example of cool european house of the mid 90's.
Walk Away is a downtempo groover with an oriental feel that reminds me early works of the Warp stable Doi-Oing's Blue track is pure bliss, awesome production with memorable synth melodies. No wonder why Sasha & John Digweed used it (with great effect)on their seminal NE2 comp the other two tracks Surreal God and Paradise Lost are early attemps of tech house All in all a great ep from the Open label | ||||
