Shitmat - Hang The DJ - 11-Dec-06 05:40 AM
Do NOT even consider going near this record unless you look quite fondly on gabber, hardcore, rave and breakcore- oh and by the way, a sense of humour would also help! This record is completely of its udders and hard as nails. The tracks are unrelenting, mental, mashed to hell and quite honestly hilarious in places. Think VVM Test put through the rinser, it's Shitmat so you know what to expect-> beard-strokers should give a wide berth. Excellent!

Orla Wren - Butterfly Wings Make - 02-Dec-06 05:00 AM
I bought this when it came out but have only recently got round to listening to it-what a stupid thing to do! Delicate sounds, guitars, bleeps, strings, effects and brilliant percussion sequences. This is reaching the heights most other electronic albums just can't touch-the production and care that has gone into the mix of this album is absolutely amazing. This is definitley NOT just another floaty collection of electronics, its a wonderfully crafted package. If you are looking for something that really deserves your time, check this out. Personally the best record I've heard all year.

Autechre - Peel Session 2 - 25-Oct-06 08:57 AM
The sounds used on this record are, to me, Autechre at the height of their creative powers. There's an unfolding event on every track and a good range of styles- the blistering beats of Blifil to the dark detached smatterings of 19 Headaches. Each track is like a short story- there's a very organic feel to the way the sound begins, changes and develops. Also good to mess about with at various pitch settings!

Naked Casino / Little Robot Voice - Naked Casino / Little Robot Voice Split - 25-Oct-06 07:48 AM
There's a very nice and upbeat sound to this record. Layers of effects and surface noise significantly keep the overall feel a bit more moody than the guitar playing would come across otherwise. A playfulness not unlike an Isan release is present over all three of the tracks. Last Transaction is the most involving with a nice lull and build-up from halfway through. Strong release all round.

Joker* - Full Of Breakz - 14-Aug-06 10:23 AM
A good mix of some very harsh sounding beats/percussion and solid basslines. The mixing is pretty quick, with tunes averaging just under three minutes, which keeps it interesting throughout. On an individual basis I was only really interested in some of the tracks here but the mixing style brings out the best in each tune. If you like rapid beats and breaks this should be up your street.
