This is one of my favorite releases on Chain Reaction and one which has a sound so clearly defined as its own. In the opening minute of anti-static it clearly sets the tone for the beauties to follow. Solanus is the kind of song you can almost float in, its weightless structure leaves me floating. Rene has a very unique way of venturing into the wilderness of the abstract without getting to experimental, a fine line he walks with ease. To classify him in the league of say, Basic Channel would be unjust, as he is not, he is a one man space ship. If your interested to see what life is like on the other side of the galaxy, I recommend putting this on and closing your eyes as that is about the closest you'll ever get to exploring it.
Quadrant - Infinition - 22-Oct-08 02:07 AM
Infinition is one of the greatest releases on Planet E and by far one of the best Detroit techno releases from an artist outside of Detroit. I bought this at Fat Cat Records way back when and still hear it echoing through my head as if it were the first time i was listening to it. Purely nostalgia I'm sure but what a great memory, I wish techno like this still existed. Now we have a litany of rubbish and re-runs, what happened to the magic?
Luomo - Vocalcity - 22-Oct-08 02:00 AM
Timeless album from a master of his craft, I wish Luomo could produce an album like this again. His new material doesn't compare to the landmark he made here, maybe not as commercially viable but that is what made it so good. It has everything you could ever fall in love with in deep music, dubby textures and an atmosphere created from a jazz players heart. After receiving a promo of the new Luomo album "Convivial" I have to wonder what happened to Luomo? "The Present Lover" was the first step in a commercial direction but "Paper Tigers" and this new one certify that the Luomo most of us fell in love with is now gone, bring him back please!
echospace [detroit] - 03-Aug-08 01:40 PM
Hard to believe such a young label has managed to enter the market with a vengeance and release so many timeless selections. With artist like Juan Atkins, Deep Chord, EchoSpace & Convextion involved you know it must be be something quite special. The only release which confuses me on Echospace is the Claude Von Stroke "Who's Afraid Of Detroit" maxi, even though the song was a hit with Richie Hawtin, I do not feel it fits into the underground philosophy that has made this label so special. I would recommend this to anyone in search of the deepest Detroit techno and also compliments the 90's era Berlin school of electronic music nicely, a timeless selection indeed.
Maurizio - M-7 - 20-Jul-08 07:14 PM
One of those songs you will never forget from the first time you hear it to the last. The bass line is hypnotic and probably the deepest low end tone i have ever heard reproduced onto a piece of vinyl which really adds to the effect. The synthesized sounds crash in like thunder in the sonic horizon and pull you in closer to the storm. I still recall the first time I heard this played, up to that point I don't think i quite understood the power of a single sound until that very moment, a truly majestic experience. Still to this very day i have not heard one record compare to M7, a landmark in techno history.
