Brain Recordings - 24-Dec-08 08:55 AM
For long time, Brain Recordings was one of the most representative german labels for acid-techno in the 90s. Founded by Frank Schreiner, the head of Music Mail based in Stuttgart, Brain Recordings became in a short time an icon of acid-techno made with TB-303. One of the most popular episode was the #2 entitled "Something For Your Mind", licensed also in Italy at the end of 1996. Release after release, Brain Recordings has leave a sign in international music market. Unfortunately the saga was stopped around 2004 when the style of this incredible label was lost into music more close to hardstyle solutions.

Blackploid - 28-Jul-08 02:44 AM
Blackploid is a mysterious project out in 2006. Some voices had talked about it as the secret face of Martin Matiske, from Münich, the youngest artist from International DeeJay Gigolo Records, who like to rebuild the style and the atmospheres of Drexciyan releases (like Dopplereffekt, Arpanet, Der Zyklus, Japanese Telecom, Heinrich Mueller, Glas Domain). In 2006, after the release (the only until now) on dutch label Frustrated Funk, some guys had spoked about Blackploid like a new alias of Gerald Donald, also for the absence of any informations on the label-copy, just like the Donalds releases. "Photographic Photogenic", to be honest, is too similar of "Virtual Origami" by Japanese Telecom. At the end Blackploid (probably a transformation of Blackploit, a word used by Anthony Shake Shakir on "Der Tonimpulstest" by Der Zyklus, 1998) is only one of the artists who like to reproduce, with fidelity and quality, the aquatic sound like Dynarec, Gosub, The Consumer, Faceless Mind, -=UHU=- and still many others. Hope to hear soon more releases of this artist.

Ural 13 Diktators - 20-Jul-08 07:59 AM
Ural 13 Diktators, from the cold city Helsinki, was one of my favourite acts. Their style was unique, between the last years of 90s and the first of 2000, born like a crazy and powerful mix between disco of the 80s and the rave-techno of the 90s. After the second lp, "Techno Is Dead", released during the summer of 2002, they left suddenly the music-scene. Nobody know the real reason of their unexpected retreat: someone said something about the big changes in music-business, others speak about a kind of experience in music, stopped after some years of full activity over the world. During 2003 and 2004 on the web was appears some flyers with their names, for a festival in Finland. After that moment nobody know other about Ural 13 Diktators. The website is stopped from 2004, the myspace profile isnt opened from december 2006. Maybe someone, who live in Helsinki, can help to solve this mystery! :oD

Gabe Catanzaro - 20-Jul-08 07:45 AM
Gabe Catanzaro, from Milwaukee (Wisconsin) is probably one of the mastermind of italo-american-disco. After the first appearance on International Deejay Gigolo in 2000 ("Come Back Home", selected by DJ Hell for the 4th volume of his label compilation), Gabriel, with the help of his friend Mark Verbos, reached the swiss Mental Groove with one of the best italo-disco tracks released in the last decade, "Memories" (what a BOMB!). After this he has released other gems, like "I Can Still Remember" on John Selways label Memory Boy. Last, but not the least, his first full-lenght, available only in digital format, a box where italo, funk, hip-hop and disco are mixed with incredible feeling of the 80s. Essential for who love the sound of the past.
