Autechre - Amber - 13-Nov-03 04:54 PM
"Montreal" has some of the most effective use of reverb that i have ever heard.

Metamatics - Here To Go - 17-Feb-03 04:17 PM
the radio edit of "here to go" on this album is much shorter than the full version which can be found on the "from death to passwords...." CD. it lacks the great build up and breakdowns of the CD version, but still sounds pretty cool.

Various - Newcastle Hardcore Volume One - 03-Feb-03 04:23 PM
though id make a comment about the Cliched Samples that appear on track B4 of the record. they are a collection of short old hip-hop samples, that have been used on the tracks throughout the album, followed by what sounds like an interview with danni minogue, with someone dubbed over the top of danni, telling her to "fuck off" etc after every response she gives. this is just a quick note to say that the samples are classics, and great for scratching. for some reason the needle sticks to the vinyl on these, so you find you can put on another record, and then use this record to do a "history of hip-hop" scratch remix of the top of it-wicked.

anyway, dont really listen to gabba anymore, but this record has not been out of the crate since i first bought it, due to the samples...

Jazzanova - The Remixes 1997-2000 - 29-Jan-03 05:58 PM
hats off to these guys. this album is abolute killer. full of complex tracks that twist and weave with more beats than omni trio, and more changes de la soul. it reaks of salsa and jazz, but the beats and breaks are very technical, giving a kind of "striving for the future, whilst not forgetting your roots" feel.

this epic album sounds rocks in an understated way on the dancefloor, but also is a great chill out album for home (god, i sound like a bad commercial, sorry).

best trax i would say are the Whats Your Number and Amazon Adventure remixes. am still gobsmacked that they can take a great ian pooley song like that, and make it as good, if not better than the original.

Danny Tenaglia - Back To Mine - 29-Jan-03 05:35 PM
i think the roy ayers track on this album is brilliant, but the rest is unplayable. this is a shame because every danny tenaglia mix ive heard is quite good. i guess the rule is "dont go back to his" :)
