Reviews & Discussion:

Are you conscious? Mixed by the dubmaster, lx paterson, this album slips you into an altered state and helps you to transcend the routine you most commonly refer to as your life.  There are no big beats here, but you probably figured that out by the title.  What's here is a masterful ambient compilation that takes you on a ubiquitous journey inside and outside of your subconscious.
-Quirk gets things rolling with All That is Garbled. A distorted, and carefully arranged concert of communications between apollo astronauts and ground control.  This song is like electro-mental floss, slowly buzzing the surface of your gray matter while pushing away your plaque filled day.
-Banco De Gaia reminds us that we are beautiful people with 144k of ethereal loops and culminating fervor.  Did I just say culminating fervor?
-Now we are Crossing the Channel with Spyra.  Long song at 10:06, but you don't care because you're in a trance and you're not going anywhere other than across this seemingly wide channel.
-You finally land on the other side to a soul cleansing Makyo. Ushering us through the 2nd Gate of Dreams with melodies that Mak-e-yo mind meander blissfully away from reality.
-Akashic offers to solve all of our problems while serenading us with songbird warbling, electric high hats, and nourishing beats in Tell Me About You.
-We then ebb with the tide when Amber Waves peacefully drowns us in the Ocean Surf.  A short dub to cleanse our sins before we pass into the next life.
-Instinct informs us that It's Warm on the Other Side with analog angels, wraithlike samples, and an indissoluble chorus. The grass is also greener on the other side.
-Anahata lures us straight through to the Doors of Avalon with the reassuring presence of a magnificent being. A sympathetic deity that coaxes your weary soul into a blissful state of relaxation.
-Cat von Trapp mediates the communication during our first Human Contact. Tribal chants create a primitive fusion between advanced civilization and ancestral man.
-DJ Sangeet is Quite Rite (With Osho Drums)
-Celestium transports us back home on a harmonic journey hastening us away from Avalon...you gotta get this album if you are into ambient music.
If you were to ask me, I'd tell you that there aren't enough people, in this community, with this album in their collection. This album elucidates the unlimited potential of electronic music.
It's a brilliant compilation.
Fittingly called a voyage into paradise because it takes you there; away from the earth, into another realm. A realm of relaxing, lucid beats lazily streaming from one side of your mind to the other.
Moreover, a mixture of downtempo, ambient dub, mixed by the ambient dub master dr lx paterson.
- The Nomads of Dub kick off the set in a synthesized Spiral of electronic dubbiness
- DubTrees (L.S.D. label owner Youth) carry on the tradition with a stampede of Buffalo Beats
and Rythms. Is grass an analgesic? This song definitely is.
- Suns of Arqa bring us back downtempo, beneath the ground, with their version of Fleetwood
Mac's Albatross. This is as downtempo as you get. Sit back we will be taking off soon. Oh!
That's right! We are already off.
- The Rob's (a.k.a. The Orb) 4 Horseman begins this CD on it's climactic journey. An
excellent remix of Hamlet of King's that will make your brain pulsate from the 'centre of the
ultraworld.'
- Kiosk take's the helm and leads us along the path of enlightenment with Pip in the Pudding.
- Then the Killing Joke's Requiem takes the reigns and usher's us through to the next life.
- Industrial Suicide Tribe's symphonic soul massaging song, Agua Sufi, cleansed my sins.
Trance inducing, tribal trippiness.
- Easy's D'ya Dig' will bring it to a close with some downtempo MC's showing us 'a side of life
that we've never seen before'. Yeah. I dig.
I'm not sure why a lot of people give this album a bad rap. If you like ambient music, and have discovered that other place in your mind, then this album wisks you there. Sure there are a couple (two tops) of crossover tracks here, but hey LX needs to make a living. Doesn't he?
This album isn't generic, it's name brand Orb. In fact, I'm listening to it now.
If you fully disagree with my commentary, then you haven't given the album a fair chance.
- Promis- has a lot of cool sounds, and is enlightening.
- Ghost Dancing- let's you dance with ghosts
- Turn it down- Needs to be turned up!
- Plum Island- Is a secret that should be told (Listen
beyond the vocals)
- Hamlet of Kings is a great track (Look for a psy-remix
of this track on Alex's 'Voyage into Paradise'
compilation. It's listed as 'The Rob-4 Horseman')
- Thursday's Keeper- evolves into a masterful composition
- Terminus - Dub Masterpiece it is!
