Full Moon - Allelujh / Got Me Burnin' Up
Oct 12, 2007
An anthematic, deep piece of Ibiza hisory here! Very overlooked track in "allelujh", the instrumental of "got me burnin' up" is also a well worthy track in itself!! I'm sure that anyone back in 1990 will know one or both tunes. Dropped by grooverider and other big UK dj's back at the time, this is one to remember, and one to add to the collection! Dope Slap records released very few copis of these, pick one up and you will not regret it, that's for sure!
I'm suprised that there is no mention of the fact that side A contains the " J dilla Mixes" , not necessarily his best work, but worthy of noting nonetheless.
"Good Life" on side B also mentions nothing of the fact that it is produced by Pete Rock........Actually, "Pete's Jazz, a track from Pete Rock's "Petestrumentals", has been licensed and laid below Big Tone's flow, working well in unison. Get this for the B side and drop it in the lounge or warming up the dance floor.
Finally have discovered this gem of a tune, an awesome remake of "Popcorn", which has eluded me for at least 13-14 years.....First heard this when DJ Torquemada ( also know as Torque ) used to drop this with other assorted breakbeat, trip hop and wigged out beats around Sydney circa 1993 or 1994. This is a must have!
"SHIT HOT" would be one of the first phrases to drop from my mouth over the Jay Dee mix on this 12".
Easily one of his best instrumentally styled productions, with FOURTET vocals perfectly matching the heavy beats and raw bassline. Lots of well known mid 90's hiphop samples thrown in the mix. Despite this maybe seemingly having been done on many a release, Jay Dee, as we all know, always manages to make it sound fresh, and it works a treat. This will satisfy even the most discerning of dancefloors, both hiphop headz and house headz alike. GET THIS by any and all means necessary!!
This is an awesome EP, with every tune holding its own.
Mainly comprising of electro fuelled beats, in the same style seen with the Breakers Break remixes done for Dimitri from Paris ( Stetsasonic - Talking all that Jazz, Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger and Atmosfear - Motivation ), these are superbly produced. On the flip there is a great mashup of Doug E. Fresh And The Get Fresh Crew's La Di Da Di, throwing this acapella over a toughned super mario beat. Get this EP for a versatile, and party oriented DJ set.
This super hard to find 12", probably more so than the already limited original on ubiquity, not only contains the dope cover of Mighty Riders - Evil vibrations, but also an INSTRUMENTAL!! not to be found any any other release. This 12" is the doing of Oriental Source, who claim to have tendecies towards Lovely Beats & Future Funk! Hip Hop based Break Beats, Down Tempo, Nu Jazz, Cross Over, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rockin' Beats and more good music around the world. This is one of the best examples of tracks they have licensed and tweaked.
Awesome release from the Flavor Unit MC's comprising of Queen Latifah, Naughty By nature, Kid Capri, Heavy D, Fu-shnickens, Freddie Foxx, D-Nice,
Black Sheep. The real mix to look for on this is "Shandi's S. Oxford Mix" which focuses heavily on a very flavorsome loop lifted from the track "Sweetie Pie" by Stone Alliance. This is a very smooth rollin' joint for heads to nod very hard to.
An Amazing album which was bootlegged in 2006. The pressing plays very well and should satisfy all but the purists. Sadly, it doesn't contain the true gem from the Japanese only release, of the same title, from 1994 on Nippon Columbia " B-boy Mastermind", featuring GURU at his very finest. Try and get a hold of the original Nippon Columbia at any cost.....classic.
An Amazing album which was picked up by DJ shadow's, Shadow Records imprint, within the same year, 1994.
However, it is only this release which contains the true gem " B-boy Mastermind", featuring GURU. This track has it all, nice beats, jazziness, and some super slick rhymes from GURU on point. "you can't test a B-boy mastermind" | ||||
