I only collect and play vinyl.

I use two modified Technics SL 1200 MK2. They no longer have a 'click' at the '0' of the speed adjuster. My mixer is a Vestax PMC 17A.

Anything with interesting percussion and bass.

Anxious (2) - Phungus Jul 24, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
In its own way, this release epitomises many Re-Load records and it also sets the gold-standard.

The percussion has been laid down in a symmetrical fashion - you could almost imagine this being the soundtrack to a steel works. Although there is no obvious synth line to catch your ear, the drums and sound effects seem to provide this almost haunting 'whistle'.

Sharp Dressed Men - Lessness Jul 15, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
PLAY LOUD! Three minimal but hard tracks and one more down-tempo jazzy track. Hard bass drum kicks; Sparse melodies interspersed with percussion. All tracks have a funky flavour and are therefore great to dance to.
Robert Hood - Moveable Parts Chapter 1 Jun 16, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I can remember the very first time I heard this record standing in Fat Cat in London. The hard-hitting 909, then comes the metallic percussion (that sounds to me like knives being sharpened) followed by an engaging bassline that almost sounds out of time. An immediate purchase, a treasured piece of vinyl.
The same record left an equally deep impression on me when I heard it played at Lost by Jeff Mills. The crowd cheered when the hihat kicked in! I realised that this record was truly in another league.
Robert Hood - Omega Jun 14, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I very much enjoy the harder end of techno. I very much enjoy getting my hands on a rare piece of vinyl. This is rare but it is NOT hard, but it has to be one of the most elegant 'soft' tracks I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. In true Hood style, he builds up the percussion in precise layers but at fairly slow tempo. The melody comes in the form of the good old-fashioned piano, it sounds perfect.
Tony De Vit - Feel The Love / Make Love To Me Jun 12, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This record is for me Tony de Vit's best when it comes to progressive hard house. It's actually quite sparse instrumentally but has an enchanting, throbbing bassline.
