Slow To Speak / Larry Levan - Don't Say Maybe - 24-Oct-08 02:42 AM
The whole bootleg / reissue thing has come to a tragical depth regarding this issue. Worst sound quality ever of a track thats not hard to find at all. And those idiots even managed to put it on both sides with a label stating differently! And the track thats not on there is also easy to find. Whats next? A zero sided record with labels mentioning cool records from the past? Now thatd be some statement!

Kalabrese - Chicken Fried Rice - 21-Dec-04 11:00 PM
Typical Perlon tracks with lots of attention for detail. But these tracks are so well arranged that youll stay focused all the time. Which is not so Perlon as their releases are often more tool-like.
"Set Me Free" got some beautiful guitar (?) licks which go strange ways sometimes, reminding of some ambient Underworld stuff.
"The 73 Chicken Fried Rice" grows and grows each time you listen. At first there are these strange vocal snippets, accompanied by nice, laidback but s-s-shakin beats. But then youll discover again little pieces of beautiful melody.
Nice nice nice.

Lucky & Easy - Pimp Soul Blister - 23-Jan-04 08:51 AM
Etched in the vinyl, near the edges: A-side: "Blow Up Doll", B-side: "Pimp Soul Blisters ... Stolipon (In Dust Royal Action)". Maybe the track titles?

Anyway, theres some deep broken funky minimal stuff hidden in here with a freaky groove that sometimes reminds of Ricardo Villaloboss dj-sets. Especially track B2 and half-way through the A-side. Beautiful melodies too...
One to take your audience away from the usual four to the floor in a friendly and adventureous way!

Various - Geology - A Subjective Study Of Planet E - Volume Two - G2 - 22-Jul-03 05:28 AM
Russ Gabriels remix of at less is a true remix. It starts with the beautiful at less melody combined with some jazzy broken beats, later on an organ is added. Which waters down the strength of the original melody a bit, but goes perfectly with the groove by then. Played this at a beachparty when the sun went down... Goosebumps!
The other tracks are nice too, a bit harder with a rough edge. Especially the innerzone track: hardcore jazz!
