Reviews & Discussion:

The Shades Of Black LP from Barcode Recordings is a fantastic piece of dark and twisted drum & bass. I received this as a gift (thanks sis!!). Ormus (D-Struct Mix) is particularly grimey with a rolling drum beat and evil sounds throughout. Mixes well with other dark d&b but also with happy 'DJ hype' style tunes. It's only drawback is that it could be argued that it is quite repetitive throughout the track. Space Crawler is very scatty and quick, and just as filthy. Makes me want to brush my teeth with a brick! This LP is suited to anyone who likes their d&b to be intimidating. I would guess that these tunes are on the devil's iPod for sure!
This is a nice piece of hard house with a flavour of the old skool. The A side contains with piano from k-klass - let me show you. The Cheeky Trax series works well for hard house djs as they all cross with each other and are very easily thrown in together. Not so sure whre the b side originates from but it also a good hard house tune. I certainly intend to collect more of the cheeky trax series, they have a variety of tunes that sample all kinds of classic dance tunes.
Absolutely fantastic record. 3 awesome mixes, all with a different hard trance feel. My personal mix of choic eis the DJ The Crow mix, which I would say is one of the most filthiest hard trance tunes i've ever heard. The original mix is also pretty damn good. I really think that uberdruck have gone all out on this one. I am actually a hardcore DJ, but just couldn't resist getting a handful of hard trance, and this record was an absolute must-have!!!
An absolute stormer of a tune. Sod the remixes, the original is immense! Not a very long tune but it has 3 awesome drops. The A2 remix is also good for townies and rudebwoys who enjoy a dirty garage bassline. Released in 1997 and was a major player in the commercial 96-99 dance anthems, a classic tune that i loved whilst growing up Freed from desire, mind and senses purified, Na na na na na na na na na na na na!
One of my favourite old skool classix! Just goes to show that no matter how old, no matter how cheesey the retro beasts such as this can still produce a dancefloor full of 'chesire cat' grins! This tune is such a hot temptation that just drops right in. One the hip wigglers ever made! Deconstruction is a dynamite label for producing some of the best blasts from past. Unbelieveably, i picked up this record in a good condition for a mere 19p, BARGAIN! Time won't take my love away!!!!
Say whatever you like about about tarantula, it doesn't matter and i quite frankly don't care. This record is all about fasten your seatbelts. ##the freestylers and pendulum have collaberated to make one fine breakbeat claasic. Adored by lovers of drum n bass/breaks both on the commercial and underground scenes. A spine twisting drop with punch and energy. This tune was once described by my mate as 'like brushing your teeth with a brick'. He's not far wrong!
I picked up this record at my local record shop quite recently, and i found it to be just what i was looking for. No more tears is a lush tune with a fast pace rhythm that you just can't help but shake your booty to. Drop the bass (remix) in my opinion is better than the A side and better than it's original. It's a classic release from seduction which, in my opinion, sits at the pinnacle of old skool/hardcore. With it's fast beat, soothing melody and crushing bass it is just perfect to get a happy 'stomp' going. 5/5 without any doubt.
This tune is an absolute classic. "You've got to live right now!". An epic example of the early 90's old skool/house scene. Played at many a club, warehouse and barn. This is one of the tracks that summarizes the rave era of 88-92. 1,2,3 is not quite the track that i would jump for joy over, but let me show you is an essential to any DJ involved in this genre of music. Deconstruction/parlophone is a great label to dig out some of the original old skool that gets the crowd waving their arms around.
New Atlantic - I Know Oct 16, 2008
Having read the previous review i find it abysmal that teknonutter failed to mention I Know. Probably the single greatest old skool tune of it's time. It was the first record i ever purchased from discogs and whenever i am throwin down my mix it is forever requested. I could never sell this tune it's value to me is priceless! Yes To Satan is not a scratch on I Know, it will have a special place in my heart! You know you can count on this!
A proper trippy record to throw into my set. I played supercallafrajalisicexpeealladocious (forgive the spelling, honestly how could i remember it!) in a breaks set, funny i tell thee! My sister bought for £1 at a charity shop in superb qualiity for a forty year old record. Chim chim cherree is a classic and so is a spoonful of sugar. Unfortunately they are not sung by julie andrews who played mary poppins in the film we all know and love!
