Astrix - One Step Ahead - 16-Jan-09 10:19 AM
Now I like this release alot, its the kind of release when an artist reaches the pinnacle of his career. It also is by far the most progressive album Astrix put on. Kinda sounds like Symphonix material, not alot just a little bit. And its probably the most coherent release yet. This is a very mature phase Astrix is going through and it really goes along with the kind of talent he has. I did not like Artcore very much, and no Poison is not great. Wait a go Avi Shmailov you have really found your own niche.
Get this one, you wont be disapointed.
Afgin - OLD is GOLD - 26-Dec-08 06:39 AM
I am pretty surprised that I am the first one to review this album, and its been more than two years since its release. If you want to get a picture of this so called new school goa, I would recommend that you begin your journey here; with this album. I think Afgin is the real ambassador of this new direction, begause he resurrects the old sound just enough to make it sound different in the same time. That is him and Lost buddha.
Tribute To The Sun is an awsome track, very goaish and melodic, and I just love the title. 10,000 Shapes takes time to build up but it gives so much in the end, truly a beauty. Do You Remember and Tribal Rythem with both tracks mentioned above are the highlight of this album in my opinion. The rest are great too, but they sort of sound the same, or I just have to give them more time.
Overall a very very very good album, just give it a try.
Solaris (26) - И заменю печаль на радость - 19-Dec-08 06:46 PM
This is as rare a music can get. To me this is more than music, it is poetry. I mean you can tell just by title alone that this is not for dancing or anything like that. The name of the album translates to "Also I will replace grief with pleasure". Finding this is like finding treasure. To be frank, I do not know how I got my hands on one of these, I am telling ya it is that rare. Offcourse, as the album description suggests, this is very ambienty. Lots of Russian insrtuments and sounds.
If you are wondering the meaning of the tracks, here it is:
1 G - paradox 2 Test by Eternity 3 Two Temples 4 Secret Tamplierov 5 Infinite Love 6 It Was the Dream 7 Prayer 8 Way 9 Good fortune
Various - Namaste From Russia 2 - 19-Dec-08 05:33 AM
I just admire russian psytrance, their music takes you to the twilight zone. It is very odd. Track 9 here is mind blowing. I am a big fan of Zolod(Deja Vu Fabrique), so this is like the best complement ever. Track 1 is like nuts. Very very interesting release, much improved from the first volume. This is what I have been waiting for in a long time.
Again...Track 9 is the best one here, in my opinion. I feel like the sky is ripping up every time I hear it.
Filteria - Heliopolis - 19-Dec-08 05:18 AM
Every one is going to kill me for saying this, but here it is: this guy is like way overrated. Filteria is as echoey as scooby doo in a cave. I mean thats what he is all about, at least in my opinion, he sounds echoey. The production of his music is like unbelievable and thats it. His music is so superficial, I cant stand it. Though he seems to be getting better, not in this ofcourse, but I mean in Sundrops. I prefer his other work as KOB.
Just listen to the Crop Cirle remix, it sounds exactly the same but more polished. At least Sky Input had a few good tunes but this one, even Sky Input to be frank, is...It lacks story telling I guess. It is just a combination of random pieces. I hope his next album will ba way better, which for some reason I see a promising release coming soon.
