Hirtenfellner* & Philip Bader - Monday - 06-Dec-08 08:21 AM
This would have been a fantastic release had it not been for the severely overused vocal elements.
I Try has 4 minutes of the sample "I try to find" till it finally warbles out only to be reintroduced near the end -- mind numbing.
Monday makes less use of its vocals, but I find the inflections highly annoying. (reminds me of a drop pitched scatman. Fuck!) Still though the track is brilliant musically and Ill have to play it at some point. Ill probably hate myself later.
Freunde 25 isnt as pumping as the other two. Theres a "flying buzz-bee synth" that sounds like talking but no vocal (it should have been the other way around.)
Overall, the production is great and I can only hope this EP is re-released in dub only form. In the meantime Ill have to fiddle with the eqs and play sparingly.
Marc Houle - Bay Of Figs - 16-Apr-08 04:47 AM
As much as I love the track "Bay Of Figs." I recently realized that its almost identical (arrangement wise) to "Roots - Racing Car" (discogs release 139613) It sounds as though Marc Houle found Roots midi file from 1992 imported it into his sequencer and updated the sounds. Its still a good track and those flanging synths always makes me feel like Im surrounded by a swarm of mosquitoes. Its a great track to play when getting close to peak hour as it starts to build and build while the groovy bouncing bass pumps on the off beat but it never quite explodes which is why its good to play before peak.
