Rood Project, The - Thunder Nov 09, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This is my favourite drum n bass tune of all time. Many people seem to have forgotten it ever existed. It was ground breaking in many ways, I consider it to be 'the first' "intelligent" drum n bass track, a good few months before Bukem started doing the same sound. The track starts of with lush strings and female vox "ooh" "ahh", etc... the intro is loooooong, before dropping into HUGE mashed up amen and HEAVY bass that might destroy you're speaker if you're not careful. Totally underrated and awesome.

Great use of the 'helicopter' breakbeat from Deep Blue's 'Helicopter Tune' on Moving Shadow and a total skaning bassline along with tin-pan drum fills and reggae vocal breakdown make this one to track down.

This is a great, really under-rated breakbeat hardcore tune imo - I think it's better than the super-cheesy sunny-side up ep. The riff on Sick Squid is totally stabby-rave mental!

I'd go as far as saying this was the 'first' proper Drum n Bass tune - I know others came before it, but this tune is the only one that's still being copied today, just now the beats are programmed instead of sampled.

This is an amazing 12", and a must have for any collector of darkside hardcore/jungle. All four tunes are amazing, one of the most value for money EPs ever released :)
