Mercury Rev - Car Wash Hair EP - 09-Apr-06 03:37 AM
I dont know why I bought this cd but im glad I did. Mercury Rev (from what ive heard) is not really my cup of tea so ill just skip the 3 tracks which are officially listed on the cover. The beauty on this cd is the unlisted track at the end of the cd (track 4), it has to be the weirdest stomach turning, nauseating piece of psychedelic bad come down experimental chillout ever produced. It radiates bad feelings, its a dirty trip with clenched teeth & first class paranoia, it makes your friends want to go home. Throughout the 30 minutes theres a constantly ossicilating low key sine wave which come and goes in volume, youve got annoying thrash guitars in repetition, clips of conversations with mental patients and a rather disturbed madman screaming on about being inside you, I want to be inside you .... Mad! This track used to & still does scare the living daylights out of me, guaranteed to bring uneasy ambiances wherever and whenever its played. Just one word of advice ... Not to be listened to alone &/or in the dark!! Definately NOT for the light hearted.

Ramirez - Terapia - 08-Apr-06 06:09 AM
Ha Ha ! Cheesey Bangin Happy Spanish Techno - What a great tune. This is definately one of my faves from 1993. Its absolutely packed out with energy, punishing stabs, whooping alarms and a great Terapiaaaaaa sample, an absolute classic for its time. Other records youd probably associate with this would be Dyewitness - We are observing your earth, Trashman - Cosmotrash & E-traxs - Yo Te Quiero.

Various - Acid House Volume One - 07-Apr-06 08:44 AM
One of my favorite acid house compilations. Starting off with "Joi Bangla Sounds - Taj ma house" and its harry krishna chanting, its a bit silly but a good example of electronic cheekiness. Another good one is "Force Motive - You will be dealt with", this oozes blobs of dark black plastic out of your speakers - great tune. "Acid Generation" is a bit more typical in sound for the time, this record reminds me of that silly acid dance we all used to do at the end of the eighties - both arms stiff, raised above your head & moving your hips and knees as if you were on a wobbly boat ! "Boogie Woogie music" is a good n as well - quite hypnotik. My two favorites though would have to be "Acid Bitch" (a record I used to turn down & or go bright red when my parents were around) - with its moaning and groaning oh baby & its pure rounded acid sound and bubble distorted vocals - great tune && "Mister Monday - Keep on" - a sort of New Beat / Acid cross over tune. Excellent Compil !

Dextrous Energy - X-Train - 24-Feb-06 02:33 PM
This record is just so groovy, theres loads of energy packed into this record, theres a great sort of female wahwo scream packed out with trumpets kickin out a wicked melody. Excellent.

Roughage - Roughage 3 - 24-Feb-06 01:32 PM
I absolutely adore the ambience of La Marquesa, sort of a low chord sad n heavy tune which transforms into a snakey acid winder - does sound quite dated these days. Excellent! As for the other tracks, theyre all very zingy, well worth a listen.
