Various - Summer Edition 2002 - 14-Mar-09 07:25 AM
What an amazing record this is! The dub remix of Smurf and Perry "Loving You" is by far the best song on here, but the others certainly don't disappoint.
I heard the Smurf and Perry track on the "Jay-J And Miguel Migs In The House" Defected compilation and I just had to have a copy. This is a must have release for anyone that likes the smooth sound of deep and soulful house.
The two reprise tracks on the D side are perfect for lounging around to and are a nice way to wind down the night in a bar.
Jerk House Connection - New York Style - 18-Apr-08 06:40 PM
Its all about the original mix for me on this one. I first heard this on Ben Watt's Buzzin Fly compilation and it took me 18 months to track down a copy on the internet, and when I found it I jumped at the chance!
It's a beautiful tune with a solid bassline, excellent use of lyrics, and exquisite melodies. This tune is a must have for all deep or soulful house DJs and due to its apparent exclusiveness, a chance to stand out from the crowd. I play this almost every time I play a deep house set.
Various - Remixology - House Classics - 15-Apr-08 07:14 AM
Note that this release, unlike the same CD release, features full length tracks that appear to have escaped any editing, making it infinitely more attractive to real house lovers.
This is a definite buy for vinyl enthusiasts, or someone just starting out, to hear some of the classics that shaped the dance music scene into what it is today. My particular favourite track is the Dex and Jonesey remix of Higher State of Consciousness, which beats the original acid funk mix hands down.
