Profile: I'm an Audio Engineer/Producer/DJ. My dream was to engineer at the Hit Factory but my dream will not come true since it shut down in February of '05 :-(

I'm looking for breaks on MP3. If you have any that interest me, let me know. I especially collect breaks from Pete Rock, L.E.S., DJ Premier, Miller Time, Mark Curry (Chop D.I.E.S.E.L.), and basically just old school or hard beat makers.

Big L - 15-Feb-05 03:07 PM
Today marks the 6-year anniversary of the death of one of the most talented MCs to every have his vocal chords processed through a microphone: Lamont Coleman aka Big L. Although the majority of his fans knew him after his death, Big L always had the talent that should have made him a certified legend, along with the ranks of living legends such as Jay-Z and Nas. Big L had a unique voice and razor sharp metaphores that would verbally kill, whether on tracks, battles, or freestyles. It is believed that he was killed because of another crew who had beef with his brother Big Lee, who at the time was incarcerated, so Big L was killed in retaliation. Some time later after his release, Big Lee would eventually be killed on the same street as his brother on 139th & Lenox. Anyone who has not heard Big L should buy his album Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous. Lets not mourn the death of Big L, but celebrate the life he lived, the lyrics hes blessed us with, and the inspiration he has given to many future MCs.

Whats this motherfuckin rap game without L?
Yo, thats like jewels without ice
Thats like China without rice
or the Holy Bible without Christ
or the Bulls without Mike
or crackheads without pipes
The Village without dykes
or hockey games without fights
-Big L

Nas - Bridging The Gap - 16-Nov-04 04:51 AM
I bought this record before I heard it. Im not particullarly feeling this song. Perhaps it will grow on me the more I hear it. But what I am feeling is the cover and label. The cover looks like a vintage vinyl from the 70s, with the word Stereo written on the corner, and the effect of the cover creasing on both sides of the cover. The label on the actual record itself looks vintage, with the words Long Play written around the record, rather than across it, as its been done since the 80s. Im sure Nas put his heart, emotions, & thoughts into the song, but its obvious someone put some thought into the presentation of this single. Is it Nas from 2004 or Olu Dara from 1964? Dont be fooled!

Puff Daddy - Can't Nobody Hold Me Down (Remix) - 09-Nov-04 08:51 PM
This single was originally intended From The Forthcoming Album Puff Daddy - Hell Up In Harlem There were a few promotional posters with the Bad Boy Family made for his album. After the untimely death of The Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy would change the name of his album, No Way Out.

Mad Lion - Girlzz / Shoot To Kill - 27-Aug-04 06:05 AM
If you notice the etching on the inner groove of the A-side, it reads, "Props to all the blunted brothers" while the B-side reads, "PS Spark that L NIGGA!!"
