Ram Trilogy - Molten Beats Jan 05, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
This album captivated in essence exactly what I loved about drum and bass of this era: solid twisted baselines, punchy beats and just the energy that good music has when it is still new, fresh and evolving. Many good tracks on here such as Mind Overload, Terminal 2 and (my favourite) Snake Bite, although nearly every track off the album has moved dancefloors since it release - a d 'n' b classic!
Novak - Alpine Assignment Nov 09, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I fell in love with this band after stumbling into them playing at the Escape Club in Brighton. I immediately went and scoured shops until I found something by them, which in this case was the single above.

This band is special; the music has taken me to my most psychedelic moments but never strays from being entirely listenable, with great crescendos and beautiful melodies. The singing never dominates the music as is often the case with mainstream music, with the husky voice being only another instrument in this delicately woven fabric. The music is deep, and as emotional as any music can be though tends have a slight melancholy colour to parts of it.

The first and last tracks are almost identical, the difference I think is in the way they have been mixed, and whilst both great tracks, the second and third tracks excel in their conception and composition, with 'Ultra Sheer' being my favourite.

This is band is one of those undiscovered gems where mainstream success has not found them, but this E.P. in addition to their fantastic album, proves they are more then capable of producing music that compares to the very best of musicians.
Hallucinogen - Twisted Nov 09, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
The tracks on this album have easily stood the test of time, and if you have ever heard it (and don't hate psy-trance) then you can understand why so many people herald 'Hallucinogen' with other all time greats. The degree of manipulation of sound is astounding, and whilst I do not believe every track on this CD is outstanding, the tracks that do work (which is most of them) are phenominal.

Tracks like LSD just build and build and build, but then change unexpectedly - there is never a dull moment. This is about as psychadelic as it comes, which is what you would proably hope for with a name like 'Hallucinogen'!
