Sisterhood, The - Gift - 12-May-04 02:20 AM
Produced by Andrew Eldritch; also note that "Gift" in German means "Poison"...
The introduction to "Jihad" consists of the numbers "Two-Five-Zero-Zero-Zero". This is the amount of money (in sterling...) Hussey had to pay Eldritch after he sued for using the name "Sisterhood" with the pre-Mission name Hussey was using to tour with...
The relationship between RCA and Eldritch was just as bad as the relationship between Eldritch and Hussey. Going from memory, I believe both were still signed to RCA. Either way, RCA was benefitting from the press coverage. I have read and heard that Eldritch deliberately made his album rubbish so that he would be released from his contract (cf Lou Reed). Despite the fact that I don't think the album was rubbish and the unlikelihood of Eldritch releasing a substandard record, it does reinforce the idea that Eldritch was not pleased with RCA.
Obviously, the album is a clear attack on the Mission/Sisterhood but it is as much an attack on the record company for exploiting the situation. It is interesting to note that Dominion and Torch weren't included on Gift, even though they were written at the time.

VidnaObmana* - Spore - 12-May-04 01:14 AM
Spore is the second disc in Vidna Obmana's (Dirk Serries) trilogy based on Dante's -Inferno. This is also quite a departure for Serries. He uses quite an array of eclectic devices to create this experimental -- almost avant-garde -- album. The most interesting sounds are from the overtone flutes and fujaras. Serries has commented that this is not an ambient CD. That is correct. This CD is interesting enough to be the focus of deep listening. It is not innocuous enough to be ignored as background music. It demands attention. The rhythms and atmospheres complement each other smoothly. The experimental sounds are neither dominant nor dominated. This disc is certainly electronic, definitely experimental, and decidedly Vidna Obmana.

Arecibo - Trans Plutonian Transmissions - 11-Mar-04 06:25 AM
Complimentary and allied to Lustmord, the project was given a separate identity in order to differentiate it from Lustmord, as Arecibo is a deliberate alternative, using synthesizers and rhythm as opposed to Lustmord's pure sound design and manipulation.

Many of the sounds on "Trans Plutonian Transmissions" are derived from cosmological activity as recorded by NASA's deep space network

Cyberaktif - Temper - 17-Feb-04 07:55 AM
CYBERAKTIF is the work of Bill Leeb (aka Wilhelm Schroeder) of FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY and Cevin Key and the late Dwayne Goettel of SKINNY PUPPY and DOWNLOAD. The full-length album, along with its subsequent singles, were recorded at Vancouver Studios with Marc Ramaer, Brian Gardner and Greg Reely. Programming and music by Key/Goettel with voice and lyrics by Leeb. Blixa Bargeld of Einsturzende Neubauten makes a guest appearance on the album.
