Boards Of Canada - Unreleased Tracks - 25-May-07 10:33 AM
Shockingly bad US pressing of four very rare BOC tracks, three of which taken from the ultra obscure MASK series. The tracks are cut from MP3s and really offer no justice to the slick production techniques used by Sandison and Sandison on these wicked tracks. So in short a lazy bootleg, with the labels printed on the wrong sides. But great music nonetheless.
Thom Yorke - The Eraser - 19-Mar-07 06:18 AM
When it all falls down, no matter your preference or penchant, this is just a stunning album by dare I say it… a genius? I am not a massive Radiohead fan and as far as knowledge of Mr. Yorke’s work stands I am sitting somewhere near the bottom of the table, but what Ive heard here is testament enough. Just listen to the title track. I dare any fan of "good" music not to like it. My heart actually changes speed through out the track. This is seldom felt. Drasticaly moving stuff from a music maker who isnt scared to do something different and can take one step forward without thinking about taking two back.
Lory D - 9 Tracks 4 A Fine Road-Hog - 26-Sep-06 10:11 AM
This is without doubt in my top 5 records of all time, possibly even top 3. When it was released in 2001 (sold at an EP price for 9 tracks), I saw 10 copies sold in as many seconds in Rubadub, Glasgow (a rare thing in any record store nowadays). A must have for serious Electro / Techno collectors and fans of Drexciya, Passarani, Skam etc. Every last track oozes quality and each could stand as an EP front runner in their own right. Track this down - un-missable.
Various - We Still Kill The Old Way - 15-Apr-06 03:58 AM
This is an essental package for anyone into Dutch Electro or any kind of Electro for that matter. The opener by Dexter "Mr Blunt" sets the standard for a killer compilation of Electro and Techno music, with other highlights coming from Cosmic Force, and a the P-Funk Allstars sampling "Hydraulic Mind" from Duplex. Its so good I bought two copies.
Klart - For Shavers Only - 30-Mar-06 08:00 AM
I looked for this record high and low after hearing Weatherall drop it at a gig in Glasgows Riverside Club. Finally I found one at the Bi-Wire stall at Dedbeat and for the follwing 6 months I thought it was the best record ever. It is not the best record ever but its still very very good. A strong EP showing how effective the harder edge of Electro can be when properly executed. "Raver" is the definate highlight with its arpeggios and dark vocal samples layed over an infectious high end melody.
