Espuma - The Ultimate Trip - 22-May-09 11:34 AM
A couple of years after the glory period of this label ended, which was between 1995 and 1998, they managed to come up with an excellent trance gem again with this release. Licensed to several international labels, this track scored big time around Europe. It is basically club trance, but with quite a dark edge to it, which makes it a noticeable track in a (classic) trance mix. Unfortunately it was Spaceflower's last release, but the label earned its place in the hard trance hall of fame.

Headline - 25-Jun-05 02:58 PM
This label used to be one of my favourite labels a couple of years ago. It was founded by Oliver Klitzing aka Kaylab, who used this label (and later also the Minority sublabel) to showcase his unique blend of hard trance, techno and sometimes a bit of electro. The most well-known examples of his style are Reeloops' 'Fucking society', which was a big international hit, Solo Plastic 'No request' and Oliver Klitzing 'I like that beat'. Until around the 25th release you could basically buy any of the records blindly.

Unfortunately, after that period, the sound of the releases changed somewhat. From a mix of trance and techno it moved more and more in the direction of pure hard techno. Although I am a fan of techno music, I didn't like this as much. It simply is not like the music I liked Headline so much for. And, unfortunately for Oliver Klitzing, there are many better techno producers out there. None of the recent releases brought about that special feeling, like earlier releases did.

So, hopefully, he will soon find the right path again and release music that stands out among the flood of releases that comes towards us each week. Something special.

DJ Arne L II vs. Mirko Milano - Freak In Me / Lucutus - 11-Sep-04 01:51 AM
As always, I was very excited about a new Arne L and Mirko Milano release, and I bought this record. But after listening it for a few times, I found it to be quite disappointing. Both tracks are in their typical style, but they just seem to have lost their inspiration The A-side track 'Freak in me' has a very repetitive melody, a sample from Fatboy Slims 'Retox', and that's it basically. The B-side track 'Lucutus' is somewhat better. Their usual dark beats, combined with an acid melody line. Only shortly afterwards I found out that this line comes from Pump Panels' techno classic 'Ego acid', so there is basically very little original about this release, which makes it, like I said before, rather disappointing. I hope they do better with their future releases.
