Little Beaver - Joey - 07-Oct-09 06:33 PM
After years of work as a well respected arranger and side man in the local Miami Soul scene, Little Beavers unique music was finally given proper nationwide exposure with this, his first full length release. "Joey" easily distinguishes itself as a superb, heartfelt and original album, containing a mesmerizing mix of Soul, Funk & Blues all woven together with lush orchestrations that seem to lift each song. What helps a great deal is that Beaver is such a talented songwriter that one cannot help but be pulled in to the rich layers and textures present in each of these numbers. Oh and did we mention this man can play a MEAN Guitar?!
I remain biased of course as Ive been collecting his records for ages now, but in all honesty this album deserves a whole heap more accolades than its gotten over the years.
Erot - Two Songs For Annie - 09-Aug-07 09:10 AM
Wow! Where to begin? This track is just bananas! Not only does Erot display mind-blowing drum programming skills but an acute sensitivity to melody and song structure. The subtle keys are interwoven in and out of the main melodic phrase to such great effect. I was captivated for the entire 13+ minutes of this wonderful song. This is hands down one the most beautiful deep house songs out there!
Dntel - (This Is) The Dream Of Evan And Chan - 07-Aug-07 10:14 AM
the original mix features Benjamin Gibbard of Postal Service on vocals. a deep, sublime and surprisingly unsentimental dubby electronic love song. shows that he was taking steps in combining that electro influence with an indie rock aesthetic quite a while back(2000-01)
