Global Communication - 76:14 - 17-Jul-07 05:03 PM
This is by far my favorite album of all time. When originally released, it may have been lost in the heyday of ambient albums, but it truly stands the test of time. This version, remastered by Mark Pritchard, sounds amazing; samples that were buried before emerge like hidden gems, and the warmth of the vinyl version finally comes through to be archived for future generations of chillers. Absolutely essential.
ELpH vs. Coil - Worship The Glitch - 24-Feb-06 01:02 AM
This is one of my favorite Coil albums ever. As a concept, its the band vs. their equipment, but it has some of the most electronic sounding tracks ever from Coil. The drones, rhythms, and sequences ebb & flow showing a fascination with the growing IDM sound of the time. Coil was one of the influencial bands on that scene, as evidenced by the likes of Autechre, etc. and its only fitting they would contribute back to that sound.
Coil - Hellraiser Themes - 19-Feb-06 07:24 AM
This is by far my favorite Coil release, if just for the fact that it could have been what accompanied one of the greatest horror movies of all time, until the studio people butted in. Ah well, our loss. At least we can hear what might have been, some of the most melodic sounds from this band ever. There is also a track on Gold Is The Metal (With The Broadest Shoulders) called Cardinal Points that was recorded during these sessions and was meant to appear on the Hellraiser soundtrack, an excellent addition to this stellar landmark.
AFX* - Analord 01 - 14-Feb-06 05:46 AM
This is my favorite part of the Analord series, with some of the best (and most danceable rhythms) as well as the tightest 303 lines of the entire series. Only part 10 rivals this as a high point.
Various - Untitled - 18-Jul-05 12:19 AM
This release is worth it alone for the excellent remix of Windowlicker. Most of Radio Slaves mashups I find basic when compared to someone like Freelance Hellraiser, but here he scores with a thumping tribal house beat over samples of Aphex Twin and nice DSP effects.
