Plastikman - Consumed - 02-Jan-04 05:26 PM
Certain albums immediately conjure up images in my mind, this is one of them. It often gives me the impression of driving alone along a country road in dense fog. It's a brilliant minimal techno album with a strong ambient sense to it. Consumed reminds me a bit of Monolake's Hongkong.
Cabaret Voltaire - Micro-Phonies - 10-Dec-03 09:02 AM
Regarding breaking into the mainstream, a subway poster for Micro-phonies is in "Ferris Beuler's Day Off" (John Hughes film, 1986) in Ferris' bedroom. I don't recall any Cabaret Voltaire music on the soundtrack, but the simple fact they were viewed as hip and cool enough to be a prop at that point while not having any mainstream visibility in the US I thought was interesting. Or, did Virgin simply pay to place it there? Then again, it seems it would have been The Covenant, The Sword, The Arm Of The Lord instead.

Vir Unis - Body Electric - 17-Nov-03 12:22 PM
The artwork for this release was created by Steven Rooke. Along with the front cover were additional insert cards, each with a different variation of the artwork.
There was also a limited VHS companion release to this album with computer animation done by Rooke. Interesting thing to me was how long it took to render the images. Pulling from a promo piece from 1999: "These images were animated on a program created by Steven, and rendered on an SGI system running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 3 months at a time."
