Dabrye - Instrmntl - 08-Jul-06 03:46 AM
What can be said? Stunning that's what! From trip-hop through breaks and IDM and back again. There not a bad track. No Child of God stands apart though... just. The whole album is so damn... intelligent. Introduce yourself to Dabrye and you will not regret it. Get one/three and two/three as well as they are masterpieces. My favorite artist of the moment.
Dabrye - One/Three - 07-Jul-06 09:18 AM
A stunningly beautiful, intelligent album. It surfs it's way between the hinterlands of IDM, Breaks and trip-hop. It is more akin to Instrmntl than the more hip-hop / idm styling of Two/Three (his best work). Hyped Up Plus Tax is the stand out track and will blow you away with electro / idm style breaks but again, as with all his work, there's not a lazy or bad track.
Various - The Annual 2003 - 07-Jan-06 10:32 PM
I've just thrown this in the bin as it is the worst collection of awful, cheesy, techno that i have ever had the misfortune of listening to. I would rather sit in a darkened room and pull my own teeth out with a pair of rusty pliers than ever listen to dross like this again. Usually MoS puts out reasonably good compilations, albeit with a bit of cheese sometimes thrown in, but this sounds like it was compiled by a kindergarden class and produced by sesame street. I hope this horrible offering is a one off abhorration from MoS.
Danny Tenaglia - Global Underground 017: London - 20-Dec-05 10:55 AM
To give a contrary view I am seriously unimpressed with the content of this global underground edition. I admire the technical aspects i.e. seamless mixing etc but the tracks are weak, repetative, monotonous and sometimes downright stupid. I would say there are maybe 2 above average tracks, and that's about it. It's just my taste but I like a track to stand out in some way; something that gets you and stays with you. This release was instantly forgettable, IMHO.
