Klangwart - Köln-Olpe - 18-Jul-08 02:52 PM
When I heard this record again after a long while, I though what a great record. This is essential ambient.
Köln-Olpe is very much in the style of Air Liquide's and Global Electronic Network's ambient works. It is full of interwoven rhythmic patterns made from analog sounds and lots of delay, but without having a real beat.
Im Garten is beatless ambient reminiscent of The Orb's Adventures Beyound The Ultraworld and Luc Ferrari's Presque Rien No 1 (Le Lever Du Jour Au Bord De La Mer), at times sounding like a tropical forest full of birds.
Frode Gjerstad Trio - Sharp Knives Cut Deeper - 01-Nov-05 09:50 AM
This is pure power blowing. All four tracks are pure high-energy free jazz. Gjerstad and Brötzmann work really hard on this disk, blowing at full force most of the time, and Storesund and Nilssen-Love provide a robust foundation. If you feel tired and spiritless, this disk will bring you up again.
Global Electronic Network - Time Square - 22-Oct-05 09:36 AM
This disc contains three long masterpieces of acid minimalism and ambient. Total playing time is almost an hour! Excerpts from Part I and Part III also appear on the Rolleiflex-Weltron-Time Square CD (MP 10 CD), but it is well worth tracking down the vinyl for Part II and the full versions of Part I+III.
Single Cell Orchestra - Angelic Science EP - 21-Oct-05 03:14 AM
This record takes you on a trip through a dark world from an imaginary science fiction movie. The music refers to early Air Liquide (especially Demon Drum and Sick With Acid) and The Orb but is even darker and at some times sounds quite ominous. For me this is an all time classic in electronic music.
Freestyle Man - Untitled - 17-Oct-05 05:46 AM
This release is a collection of jazzy, sometimes experimental house tracks. The outstanding track here is Night In Motion, a 15 minute long groovy, steady building track with nice strings and a catchy, snappy sample that runs through almost the entire track and gives the track its special flavour.
