Tubz* & Footz* - It's War / Morbid - 12-Oct-08 03:13 PM
"Morbid" is a pretty standard warbling bassline dubstep tune nothing special really but "Its War" is a total bomb that uses very different sounds than the average run of the mill sounds. War is kinda slamming but with pretty twinkle sounds thrown in to make for a wide wide full sounding track with lots of space in the beats. simple but very effective on the dancefloor this is a proper dubstep secret weapon that i shouldnt really have commented on but i dont like those people who keep all the best tracks to themselves. Keep this one in your digging minds eye when youre digging through piles and piles of scrubby whitelabels.
Beaumont Hannant - Notions Of Tonality - Vol 2 - 19-Aug-08 02:18 AM
This is a record in my collection that i really love its not very trendy anymore but in my opinion the music is wonderful, it speaks for itself. The Outcast mix (Beaumont Hannants own version) on the A-side is the track that means most to me, floating mushroom music. i guess this is a deep house record its instrumental, and brilliant it goes on just long enough ! people just dont really make music like this anymore. This track alone makes me want to mix records together a lot. Thankyou Beaumont Hannant you are one of the true pioneers or British 90s electronic music. i just wrote that whilst listening to it again, Thanks Mr Hannant.
Williams Fairey Brass Band, The - Acid Brass - 07-Feb-08 09:16 AM
Art and Music joined in glory thanks to Acid House Compositions. This music fits perfectly into the brass band mold is even more uplifting thanks to these beautiful recreations that sound equally like John Barrys james bond themes as they do the adventurous Alarm Will Sound renditions of Aphex Twin. The Williams Fairey Brass Band have somehow added another element by swopping the clumsy retro drum machines for well oiled and perfectly balanced tried and tested drum and brass!
Dusk + Blackdown - Drenched / Submerge - 13-Mar-06 03:47 AM
This debut 12" from Dusk and Blackdown is a true secret weapon, its ambient qualities and gentle touches make it a record of great depth. This is a very shrewd release from Dusk & Blackdown, initially it sounds very laid back and seems like it has no power when compared to other dubstep labels such as tempas and DMZs booming basslines. Under the complex percussion and subtle panning synths, lies some very intelligent programming. I like to put it with more quality obscure dubstep bits in my collection such as the burial 12" on Hyperdub and Maurizios M Series records, M6 being a very good match. As i watch this dubstep thing blowing up around me, in my opinion keysound is the label to look out for in the future. Expect big big things from these guys ,i cant wait for the next keysound release!
Trevor Rockcliffe - A Sound Called House EP - 24-Jun-05 11:18 AM
I saw Derrick May play the A Sound Called House track once in Manchester at Sankeys Soap in 2001. This is a truly wonderful track that uses an old chicago house sample "he created a sound called house but in some minds there still was doubt" repeated over and over. The sample comes from Mike Dunn : Let it be house (produced by bam bam) on westbrook records. i really dont understand why it has votes less than 5/5 ? the Mr G remix is awesome too! an all round quality EP.
